For every Statham or Bruce there are at least a dozen other roles that portray bald people in a bad light. Now I love the sci-fi movie District 9 but I had a serious problem with the fact that the main antagonist was a bald white man and even worse his sidekick was also a bald white man. I'm sure they intended it to be funny but I could just hear the casting directors saying " let's give the evil villian role to the bald guy because they would be less likeable that way." If you think I'm trippin look at most of the villains in Hollywood movies....they're bald. What does that say? Even in the latest Terminator movie, one of the leaders of the resistance who is bald was in direct conflict with John Connor and wound up loosing his leadership role to him before being blown out of the water. There are just too many examples of this not only in movies but television commercials to account for. The media is an obvious culprit in perpetuating negative stereotypes of bald men. Don't even try and argue this one fellas.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw district 9. Alot of movies have bald villains especially action movies.

Lets see a bald guy who does'nt take off his shirt and can still compete in Hollywood as a movie hearthrob.

I don't know, that lex luthor in smallville could pull it off pretty good, he was quite handsome, I saw him with hair it seemed strange.

Yul brynner, was someone that was very attactive with a bald head.

And there are plenty of non actors who can pull it off.

Pffft!! "that lex luther guy" ? Yeah he's right up there with Cruise, Pitt, Depp and Clooney isnt he.

Yul Bryner was yet another 'tough guy' actor always playing bounty hunters, soldiers ect ect and his look was considered 'exotic/unique' at the time than conventionally handsome.

As great historical figures as they are, Ghandi and Churchill don't really influence current popular culture as much as what people watch at the movies and see on T.V. so no it's not too consoling. I don't know what Norwood you are but considering your brilliant explanation of the causal progression of how someone becomes a sex offender in that other thread, I would assume that you can understand how the media are quite litteraly painting the bald out to be bad guys and how that affects societies greater perception of bald people in general.

Speaking of Old Yule, he played a dysfunctional android in WesternWorld. Android roles are given to bald people because they are percieved as being less human. There is also a show on the Disney channel called KyleXY (I think) where the main kid with superpowers and apparently no bellybutton has an android sidekick who is (you guessed it) bald. His bald head is always popping off for fuckin comic relief. Very funny. I'd post a picture if I could but I'm writting from the retarded library and they don't let you have more than one tab open. :shakehead:

well everyone to some extent is a victim of media depiction, whether you are black, white, gay, straight, english, American society has a expectation of people who fall into the before mentioned categories and some of these depictions are because of the media, Michael Moore points out in one of his films that a murder would more likely make the headlines if committed by a black man than it would if committed by a white man, this causes a polarised depiction of black people as murders when they are in fact just as likely to be a murderer as a white person

this is a contest for a mens fitness magazine and is at most part judged by men, try this, go up to a woman and ask her to name 10 hot celebs, now since male pattern baldness affects 50% of men you should expect 50% of them to be bald but you would be lucky if they name 1 bald guy

there are only 2 people who buy mens fitness magazines, they are closet gays and twats

overall looks isn't an objective matter, i find baldness ugly, that is my opinion so every time i look in a mirror i look ugly, i don't care if others might not because this is about how i feel about the way i look, not about how others will perceive me
A 13 year old girl called Jason Statham cute last night on the Jay Leno Show.
