If Minoxidil Has A 22 Hour Half Life, Why Do Studies Show Superior Results With 2x Day Use?

Fluctuation of concentration of minoxidil

if a person gives the bottle a little shake before each application, the concentration of minoxidil in each application should be similar enough that any fluctuation should be minimal

I don't think you are getting what I mean, I am not talking about the concentration of application. I am talking about the fluctuation caused by the pharmacokinetics of minoxidil, elimination half-life etc. In an example, is 1x4ml and 2x2ml applications the same? The answer is no, the 1x4 ml application gives more fluctuation because of elimination half life, imagine it like this, 1x4ml is creating waves of change in concentration whereas 2x2ml is creating ripples of change in concentration.

that makes sense, good explanation.
many users have reported that it is difficult to be sure they are covering all areas of the scalp they want to cover with a single normal application, but with a larger amount in one application its easier to be sure. so i wonder if this might counteract the phenomenon youre describing to some extent... full coverage that hits every area vs spotty coverage that may be hitting a spot in the morning but missing it in the evening, etc

So yes I understand this, the recommended 1ml per application is probably not enough to cover a person with frontal, mid and crown zone hair loss. I guess it is just about the individual users. Overall, whatever you apply, I strongly feel that 2x a day is better then 1x a day no matter what because of the thing I just described. If hair loss is more severe then more minoxidil is needed per application and its all about finding the right amount (within reason).

In my own scenario, I use minoxidil for my frontal zone only. I actually use around 5-6 ml a day split over two applications (WHEN I CAN) and the maybe 3 days of the week I only apply once since the liquid is too oily and not ok as a styling product when I have to leave the house. I'm only 23 and I'm about to start a professional job that will mean that I have to go to 1x liquid application a day from now on, I think I will use the foam in the mornings to fill my 2x daily quota to get the maximum benefit from the sustained concentration of minoxidil.

My hair loss I would say is quite severe and thats why I'm using quite a lot, in reality the amount I use is to get more coverage.

If another user had mild hair loss at the crown, then 1ml would be sufficient coverage so its all about the individual.

How long would you say it really takes to dry? Also what do you use to apply it, a dropper?

Like 3 hours. Yeah it comes with a dropper
