I'm done with finasteride - how long until I'm back to normal?

help my seamen is watery after 6months of finasteride :shakehead:

Reduce doseage. I've been on .25 mg since early March (I took 1.5 month break after 1.25 mg of fincar for 8 months cause I ran out) and found all my sides were gone but my scalp itch disappeared and I seem to be maintaining my hair still. Also, morning wood has stuck around.

so I should reduce to 0.25mg and it will maintain my hair with no sidies?

How long after i stop will the finasteride stop maintaing hair?

and is 0.25mg sufficient to work?

That would suggest a little bit to much estrogen, but more importantly if you're happy with your libido and little gary's up to the job, i'd maybe look to see if there's any estrogenic foods in your diet you can cut back on.
ie soy.

If you reduce to .25 mg, it might retain your hair with no sides. You'll have to test it for yourself. So far, I am having luck with it.

If you stop finasteride altogether, your hair will be fine for a month or so. Then it will start to reverse. It might take two months, might take six.

Though I've been on the finasteride for 3 years and haven't experienced any sides but liquidy "ejection" and the occassional testicle throb, I decided to also cut down from 1 mg finasteride to 0.25 finasteride as well to see if I could get away with less DHT inhibition in my system with no or little noticeable cosmetic difference on my head. I mean in the end, it's all about a trade-off.

At first, a little more hair came out, but I was also having a *really* stressful couple weeks so who knows if it's related. Two weeks ago, I started adding daily doses of Biotin vitamins and fish oil (figured since they're healthy vitamins anyways for other things it's worth a shot), just in case the lack of DHT inhibition needed some help, and my hair is falling out about the same as at 1mg...possibly less. I get maybe 4 or 5 hairs come out in the shower, and 1 or 2 on my towel, 4 or 5 on my sink brushing my hair. I'm gonna stick to it for a few months and report back.

One noticeable difference...my "ejections" are indeed thicker.

Yes, I stopped for a few weeks now and abit feeling better with the old pekker, but watery sidies have not totally cleared. but It is a definite improvement I even have more sensation back and can last longer but still not back to normal.

I am scared to death to even attempt 0.25mg.


What I have noticed with this drug is that it seems DHT is some how directly related to penile strength.



If you loss penile stength you basically get a smaller penis. and it also reduces the duration of the erection so basically it is a very heavy risk !
Not to mention it cost a lot. and finally when you come off the drug you loose hair faster than when you were not even on it(in my case any way).





Problem is when on proscar erection was not good and this basically means reduction in penis size and also sensations. If I was to stay on the drug for longer who knows what could happen? maybe dysfunction.



I am going to try the 0.25mg/0.5 maybe next week

Yep, I completely agree.

I'm still not 100% recovered. I can have sex just fine, but about 25% of the time my sensation is either greatly reduced, or I have trouble achieving an erection, or I simply have no libido whatsoever. I presume all three are related.

My hormones still seem to be out of balance, and constantly fluctuating. One day I will have great function - rock hard during foreplay, rock hard during sex, full sensation, great orgasm. Then the next day my penis will barely be hard enough to have sex, and I will sometimes even lose my erection during sex. My flaccid size remains much smaller than normal as well.

I've been taking 50 mg of zinc again for the past week or so, and have noticed a definite improvement already. Seems pretty clear to me that my estrogen levels are elevated, and the zinc is helping to correct this (while I'm actually taking it).
