In defence of people who do not have the same world view:

It is sometimes good to be in contact with other opinions and beliefs. Often they can help us see another way of the world. If you keep speaking to similar minds, and keep conferring with those of the same backgrounds, then you will cease to grow.

I have learnt things on this forum and that is because people debate me, people challenge my views, people discuss things in a usually civil manner. This has made me certainly more sympathetic to how some men experience hair loss. And hopefully, some of my views have helped others in at least trying to maintain a pragmatic course of action in terms of hair loss and life in general.

I think we should practice tolerance even when someone has outlandish views - and instead of name calling or insults - we can have a good debate instead.

Ah, yes, you love "debating", as you wrote this is one of the reasons why girls like you. :D

The poster in question frequently goes far beyond simply expressing a viewpoint though: he effectively calls people weak for pursuing treatments instead of taking drastic, life-changing decisions like switching careers/partners/friends etc. He consistently calls into question the veracity of people's accounts when they discuss the negative effects baldness has on them, and accuses them of being excessively negative without any proof at all. Shifting the blame over to the hair loss sufferers, similar to what much of society does.

There are ways of delivering a positive message without doing this, you yourself would be a good example of that. I don't think our open mindedness is an issue here.

Like @tellersquill mentioned, different opinions are important - i myself have had issues with @FredTheBelgian's opinions, but have come to accept several of his notions as true; the same apply to what @jd_uk says. As in most things, the truth lies not on the fringe but somewhere in the middle, relative to where you are in life. It's a moving spectrum and you should grow to accept differing views because they represent different life experiences. I'm not certain this thread will accomplish much other than provide some cringe-worthy/sh*t-slinging *entertainment* to keeps users occupied for the next 3 weeks. Granted, it could be seen as beneficial if it distracts you from your current place in life, but let's not kid ourselves and pretend like this is more than a Jerry Springer-esque thread.

We are bald and ugly, we must be reminded of our inferiority at every chance, we are not allowed to be happy or spend a single, f*****g day, without feeling inadequate or inferior.

Guys, we should not create threads that are directed to a single user.
We've closed one that was directed to hellouser, we'll close this one.

The idea that baldness is somehow not a problem because you have the option of changing just about everything about your life is unfortunately widespread and an obstacle to societal acceptance for wigs and surgical solutions.

No. Wigs are not socially accepted as women view it as men trying to cover up a flaw in order to deceitfully punch above their class. This is not allowed for men. That is the only reason. The same reason why wearing lifts in shoes for men is considered shameful.
