Because we work 20hrs per week and its 30 Celsius all year round.

You can live off around 600 dollars per month, but I go to the cinema, buy clothes, ride a bike, date, and stuff like that. If I stayed in more and read and watched tv then i'd be able to save a lot more - but I don't want to do the Spartan life.

Living on 1000 dollars a month in a developing country seems super expensive to me. You can live in many countries in EU on 500-700 euros (after tax) = 600-850 dollars.

I'm not sure about the long term, but I will definitely be here for a while.

I'd rather live in central or south America but the wages are low. I think i'd like to improve my teaching credentials so that I could get a better paid job over there.

For now, Vietnam is a good place to be. I only work 20 hours per week and yet I can save 500 dollars per month and live very well.
