Is it a good idea to change from brand to generic?

I recently started out with Propecia, yet because of the price, i am considering switching to Finpecia, is this a big deal?

Also, would it matter if i change to Proscar (or even Fincar) and cut it in 5ths?

Thanks guys. I'll see a doctor and get his opinion on it, whether it really matters if i switch to a generic brand. I think if i am going to switch, it'll be finpecia, if not that, then proscar.

Been using Finpecia here from Inhouse for 1.5 years now with good results
