Is it true that Propecia helps with muscle gaining?

There was a theory that Propecia actually gave you muscle mass due to the slight increase in testosterone.

So, my question to those who use Propecia and workout, did you notice any changes? Change in strength? Muscle?

Yes, finasteride increases total testosterone levels by 10-15%. But it also lowers free testosterone by ca. 25%. This can naturally offset the anabolic effect of the higher total testosterone.

I believe that DHT-inhibitors lower your capacity to build muscle, although only slightly. In the above mentioned study, there was no statistal difference between men taking and not taking dutasteride, but it is apparent from the graphs that men taking dutasteride consistently had somewhat worse results.

Good thing the chime-in alarmists are all over this thread. I am a gym rat, but not naturally bulky. I have put on about 5 pounds of muscle sine starting finasteride 3 months ago. Mainly cause I go psycho at the gym. Is it the extra T? Who knows, but I can state the finasteride has not hurt in the least.

finasteride increases testosterone and estrogen by 15%. On my first two months of finasteride 1mg ED I gained 7.5lbs in 8 weeks. My body fat percentage went from 6.5% to 8%. Since it boosts your testosterone by 15% it should help with muscle gain. Say someone had a 1000ng/dl Testosterone level before propecia, after they would have a 1150ng/dl testosterone level after propecia. A 100ng/dl level increase in testosterone would automatically add 1.1lbs of lean body mass to an individual's frame. Propecia helps with muscle gain and gym performance, in the case that you would take dutasteride then you would experience a 20% increase in testosterone and estrogen instead of 15% with finasteride. Cheers!
