Definitely hit a NW3. Feeling pretty depressed atm and really not sure how much longer i can keep going. Between my hairline getting worse and the side effects, idk if i can keep going with finasteride.

My side effects appear to be sexual. loss of libido, no morning wood, weaker erections ect. There was one week where it seemed to be getting better but then came right back again. it says on one of the faq's on here that sides should go away in 1-3 months. i'm midway through the second month and it doesn't appear to be getting better :/

Two days at a dose of 0.25 mg, lol. Took me over a month to recover.

I said I was going to update this every month. I guess I kinda forgot, mostly because my update has probably already been seen in other threads but I'll put my update here so i have it all in one place.

Three months and five days update.

Three months and five days on finasteride. Side effects are on going. Lack of morning wood, low libido, watery/low volume of semen ect
Bit the bullet and went to see a doctor about it. Got bloodwork to test my hormones and liver. Seeing the Doctor about the results tomorrow.
I shaved my head, as the hair felt thin and was incredibly hard to style.

I was kinda hoping i caught it early enough that finasteride was all i needed and I wouldn't need Minoxidil ect
I fear tomorrow might be the last day I take a dose and I'll have to embrace hairloss if it turns out my hormones are all f*cked up.

I'll return to post about what the Doctor said and if he recommends me quitting the drug, then idk what i'll do.
I do appreciate all the feedback/replies ect i've gotten from everybody on this forum on my other threads. Even the people calling me a idiot and telling me my hairloss isn't as bad as other peoples. Made me realize i was over exaggerating it in my head and it's not as bad as it could be.

Yeah I immediately stopped after two weeks after noticing watery semen + small hit to my libido and less morning wood.
I might just wait a couple weeks (or just a couple months for the hell of it) for the sides to subside and perhaps try a regimen 0.25 propecia every 4 days and see how I react.
I would definitely stop of course tell us what the doctor thought.

Maybe I read some broscience but I read something that propecia has a half-life of 4 days..
My thoughts anyway.

I have zero sides on Finasteride - 2 months in. Good luck with the Dr. It's a difficult situation and I feel your pain. I think I would be depressed without Finasteride as it's the only drug that works long term and I badly don't wish to extend my Norwood 2.5.

RU is unknown but it works so worth a shot.

I wouldn't take this medication if I got sides though. That's like your body not able to deal with the drug.

I get ya feeling pal. Initially sides can be psychological but the way you are writing on here doesn't suggest to me it's placebo. You seem quite level headed. Also losing morning wood is NEVER psychological, your mind is at rest then. You can wait longer to ride it out but it's risky.

I think the 2% of people who get such sides, their bodies are unable to compensate for the loss of DHT. Perhaps their Testosterone doesn't rise high enough to compensate or is converted to other stuff.

I wake up everyday with a really hard boner or at least some point throughout the night, never changed for me.

RU or try lower dosing mate.

Saw the Doctor.
Said my hormones are fine. Told me the normal range for test is between 9 and 60 and mine is 40.
However, I appear to have liver issues. the normal number for the liver hormone(? i can't remember what he called it) is 40 and mine is 91. I don't drink so it's not due to alcohol but it's possible medication can cause the issue. So he wants me to stop taking finasteride for 3-4 weeks and then have another blood test to see if the number goes down.
I'm super tired so i forgot to ask if that high number can cause the side effects I've been experiencing but I'll be sure to ask on the next visit. If after 3-4 weeks the number hasn't gone down and i'm still experiencing those problems then i guess we can conclude finasteride isn't responsible. If the number does go down well... then it's more likely but i'll probably need more tests i'm assuming.

If i stop taking it for 3-4 weeks, will i see a shed/accelerated loss in that time frame or will i be fine?

For what its worth, I had finasteride sides for about 3 months before they settled down. Brain fog, reduced libido, fatigue ++.. I don't know if the sides are gone or I've just adapted to them, but I feel well. I guess I'll never know until I quit finasteride.

I got some regrowth around about the time the sides started dropping.

The blue hoodie pics are from today, one week of hair growth after clean shaving my head which you can see in the final pic.
As you can see, my hairline has definitely receded considerably in that time.
I have gotten more used to it as time went on. Last week I clean shaved my head which was fun but also workmates clowned me for it.

In retrospect though, my hairline wasn't as bad as i thought it was. I mean goes without saying, i was NW2 then and a 3 now lmao
I was 22, really scared and wanted finasteride to be my saviour and was crushed by the liver condition making it an untenable solution. I wish I'd been a little more cool headed, rocked what i had while i had it and at the very least just replaced finasteride with rogaine and seen how much i could slow it down.

So I'm going in for one last ride. I'm gonna grow out this old man mane and see what it looks like and trial rogaine on it's own and see what I get out of it. What have i got to lose? I'm already clean shaving my head

I just like to take a advice from you i had same hairline as you had at age 21 i m also aged 21,i didnt lose hair throughout the year but in rainy season.. As it is here nowadays.. Should i need to freak out and go for a treatment, or just let it be because i dont think i had a severe hair loss problem, should i use finasteride will it worsene my problem.
