Most group of friends want a social misfit in their vicinity, someone too take the pi**,the gopher that buys the drinks, and whilst they are at the bar,the rest of the group laughing at them.In our case,BALDY.

What world do you live in! None of my friends have friends just to mock. Besides, about 30-40% are balding. In fact, at work today there were 4 of use. Only one guy had no male pattern baldness and we were ranged 20s to 30s!

The real one.

I kind of agree with seb on this. I dont think there is any machiavellian plot to have a friend who is the laughing stock but there does tend to be one. I know weve got one in our group, fwiw he is not bald but he is balding. He doesnt get stick for that though....yet.

I dont join in but there is something animalistic about a few guys around a bar table ripping on the 'weakest'. Its like how animals bully the runt of the litter. I have quite an anthropoligcal view on life, i kind of watch it all going on one step removed and i can see clear as day the guys competing for rank. If the guy who is in '2nd' place starts going down the gym, inevitably the alpha will start doing the same or go out and buy some flash new clothes or gadget. The guys near the bottom scrap like two crabs in a bucket, ripping each other, pulling each other down. They dont know they are doing it but its clear as day and the reason behind it all, is status. I think status is central to pretty much all we do in life. Some people dont care about it, some think its wrong to care about something so transcient but do want a piece of the action. Others crave for status remorselessly and will fight for it with their entire being. Its prevelent in every walk of life, even on these very boards!

Nothing wrong with trying to get by in life. I didnt mean to sound like i was making value judgements, people gotta do what feels right to them, i dont think there is a 'right' way to be, just many different shades of insignificance
