"Maybe it is not a bad idea to consider taking finasteride to prevent further hairloss; about the ‘gap’, the future will tell, when the grafts are growing well; maybe we should have taken more grafts."

Wow. That's what the clinic responded with?

Yeah, I may have had more faith and patience if it wasn't for my experience, but the consultation and after care and correspondence have been quite sub par. The surgery experience itself was fine, I have no doubt the extractions, incisions and graft implantation a were don't to a high standard, but I have doubts about the graft placement, I expected reinforcement 1 cm into my hairline, instead it seems like my hairline has been lowered by 1 cm which I like, the position is good, but at the edge of my old hairline, where the density was low, it's still low and looks like a gap. Guess I'll have to wait for grafts to grow in to see whether it affects the aesthetic results.

I wasn't butchered or anything, but I know he went on holiday the next day so I suspect I may have been an afterthought or a rush job before he left for vacation...

Sh*t bro, I guess there's no point in worrying until it grows in and you see how it actually turns out. Hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Even though Rahal is expensive as sh*t, I have to say that so far the communication and attention from his staff has been top tier. I've already been sent an extensive packet on pre and post op care. Every person from Rahal I've interacted with has made me feel like a huge priority. A day or two after I did my consultation, I had an extensive phone conversation with one of his staff, and she sent me an email later that day answering my questions and recounting our conversation down to the LAST DETAIL. The level of professionalism is certainly reassuring. For all the criticisms people make of Rahal's prices, I'm really starting to think you truly get what you pay for.

That being said, I guess I should save my final opinion for my surgery results

So he didn't give you any antibiotics to take in the days after the procedure? Just ibuprofen?

Correct. Though I'm not sure antibiotics are necessary. It's the lack of post op care instructions that bothers me.

I thought I'd have a gap too (between my horseshoe and the transplanted hair), but it was just an impression, or it's barely noticable. He most likely did it to avoid shockloss on your hair line.

Sometimes I still think the gap is noticable but it really isn't, I'd better avoid going all BDD over this.

Wait until you see the final result to judge. I suspect he's been having more patients than he can handle lately (thanks to me I guess), which explains his reply.

He might soon have the same problems the Turkish clinics are experiencing, too many patients to constantly perform quality work.
Yeah I think it may have been to avoid shock loss, but If that is the case then I wish he would just say that. I'm a guy who likes to know the reason behind everything. I kind of felt abandoned after the surgery was over. My case may be unique since he went on vacation the next day so didn't do a post op follow up...

In Europe that sort of attention and care is rare, the patients when it comes to medical procedures should expect the minimum.

Of course none of that matters if the results are good. I'll reserve judgement for now. Hope the density is ok, the hairline shape looks good, hope the "gap" won't be apparent and hope that I didn't f*** up my results my rubbing some of the scabs/crusts at 8 days. I did most of the rubbing/scab removal at 10 days, which from what I've read is safe.

Long waiting game now, so many questions and unknowns...

Cheers man. I think I might need one more though, maybe next year shave down and reinforce. At least I'll have a better hairline by then so shaving down won't be as bad. I think another 1000-1200 should do the trick for frontal reinforcement. Still waiting for the possibility of dutasteride gains over 3 years of finasteride.

Any pics?
Nope.
He took some pics before the surgery with the hairline design. I asked for them a couple of times but waited ages for reponses and my requests were ignored among the other questions I asked. 2 and a half months later the recipient area is still red. One temple has some growth but it might just be the hair that he shaved growing back rather than transplanted hair. If anyone really wants to see my recipient area at 2 and a half months I can take pictures but there's not much to see.

I would like to see it if you don't mind! Just to see how the recipient is healing

Photo quality isn't the best, but you can probably see the recipient area about 1cm below the old hairline. There are some sparse hairs here and there, that are t growning or falling out

Better quality photos.
Anyone who thinks they have a big forehead should have a look at me, might make you feel better about yourself!

Tbh I've been feeling pretty down since the surgery. Hoping for the best, he told me that it was 50FU per cm2 and he had s hard time finding single hair grafts so most are doubles or triples. But still very worried about the result. I don't think he went deep enough into my hairline. Also wish I could have got my left temple point done.
I paid for 1500 but he said I only needed 800. He emailed me recently about refunding me the difference but I said I'd rather have the additional 700 next summer than a refund, that Id get back to him on it when they grow out.
There's a spot just to the left of the middle of my old hairline that's a bit lower density that I'd really like to get filled in.

I see what you mean about not going deep enough into the hairline. This is why I'm going the shaved route to really reinforce the areas behind the hairline and temples for density and buying time against future loss.

I can't see too well from the pics but hopefully it will be a big improvement, one more procedure next year should set you up nicely for a long time.
