Maybe Finasteride & Dutasteride Isn't Good For Everyone

My experience so far with these for nearly a year has been nothing but continued hair loss and a hairline that thats getting worse. i feel like i took finasteride long enough that i don't actually remember how fast or slow hair was receding previously but all i know is that Finasteride has shown no results in 6 months.

I notice that people tell everyone to go on finasteride or Dutasteride and basically say if you don't you will go bald... but perhaps some people have an auto-immunity to them and that just results in things getting worse for them rather then better? i say that because i notice people (including me) don't wanna stop taking these tabs because people swear by them and say if you don't then you are f*cked. but maybe taking them is actually doing more harm than good for us?

My hairline is continuing to disappear with a tingle that comes and goes in the thinning areas and i continue to hope for the best... but at what point do i stop and say ok this scalp tingle wasn't there previously to starting these tabs and maybe my body is telling me something?

I have been on finasteride for 7/8 months and losing ground too, i have read that people can still shed heavy this far into treatment but im still worried i won't be able to regain what i have lost. How long did you take dutasteride for?

I have only been on dutasteride for a week but recently switching to one every other day.

Honestly i don't feel like much has changed from the switch from finasteride to Dutasteride. Still a worrying scalp tingle which makes me question whats doing it as nizoral doesn't stop it either.

If its a finasteride/dutasteride shed then its a really heavy one that feels like its trying to take my whole hairline.

if you only used dutasteride for a week, and already changed to once every second day...how can you give an opinion on its effect?

why did you change the daily dosis after less than a week?

consistency is the key to success, changing dosis, days etc usually dont help anything; )

no drug works on everyone, that is also clearly mentioned in all research. 83% stopped their hairloss and 65% inexperienced regrowth. in other words 17% kept on losing hair, and 35% had no regrowth.

Well when i first started taking finasteride i gained a scalp itch that was really speeding up my hairline receding so i panicked and switched to one every other day and the itch stopped and the receding slowed down a little abit but still kept going. my logic is that id rather not go full speed with my hairline and if i can slow it down but watch for any positive signs that can convince me these drugs will help then id rather do that.

I have always felt the itch and sped up receding was suspicious as i read alot of reports claiming it could be DHT attacking, antibodies attacking to make up for the lack of DHT or possibly a shed... but i had loads more hair before i started taking Finasteride back in September last year and i have very little to back up that this is a shed and not something else.

I feel like finasteride and Duta are what give me the scalp tingle in the thinning areas and i worry thats the bad warning sign that i may be ignoring

my personal thoughts is that we all get side effects in the beginning of a treatment, i got dizziness from minoxidil for example.

if it lasts more than 8 weeks and feels severe, then its time to look at alternatives.

i would not change the dosis of dutasteride after only 2 days, i would see if my body adjusts to the medication.

you were very quick in changing finasteride to every second day as well, i would have sticked with the full dosis (as long as its the general 1mg/day).

why not try a nizoral schampo that could be a solution to your itching scalp.

I think i was originally on finesteride daily for 4 weeks before i switched to every other day. my hair was just receding at a pace that started to scare me.

I did look around online to see if anyone was going through the same itch with sped up receding but surprisingly there were not many and those that i did find didn't mention if there was ever any improvement.

I have used Nizoral and still use it once or twice a week but it doesn't really help the itch. it just seems to be the same either way which makes me more worried and curious to what the itch actually is.

I got a scalp tingle and shedding when using Rogaine foam or large amounts of liquid topical Minoxidil. I have not noticed this from Finasteride. I would recommend using the brand name of Finasteride and not some cheap sh*t from India or elsewhere if you are not already.

I got my finasteride from https://www.medexpress.co.uk and i think they were good stuff since its a pharmacy that needed an Online consultation before i could buy them.

the lack of results and itch is the reason i finally switched to Duta after 6 months or more and so far nothing has really changed. now if i stopped taking these tabs i am fairly confident the itch would go away... and that feels stressing.

you can see where im thinning in the picture below...

Here are some from from September 2017. i got shorter hair in these pictures and it doesn't look like its changed that much.

The only thing i would say is that my hair is abit thicker these days and i don't know if thats down to the finasteride/duta or because i am using a product called spectral.dnc.n but my hair does look abit thinner in these images

So why are you making a thread that is basically saying finasteride/Dua caused you to lose a bunch of hair?

Well i am losing hair, my hairline is getting smaller and you can see the see-through areas in my recent picture where i am losing it.

Yes my hair is abit thicker but i don't know if i can put that down to the finasteride or Duta because as i said i am using a topical product also called spectral.dnc.n.

i think its just the way my hair is thinning. its got a receding pattern that its sticking too from all sides.

I know for a fact i had more hair back then because i had far more forehead coverage as it grew longer.

Your hair was very receded when you started and is still very receded except it is thicker per you. I do not know your hair and have not measured your hair line, but it LOOKS either better or the same.

Well the scalp itch has for the most part gone away, but i am taking Duta every other day.

Same thing happened with finasteride when i took it every other day. i hear every other day is just as effective (if it works for me at all)

could it be that your body got used to the new medication and that you could increase the dsage without further itching (or itching during 1-2 weeks?
