Might have to come off my 2.5mg/day regimen

Well. Who would have expected diarrhea as a side effect? :(

I have been taking Loperamide to sort the diarrhea out but I can't keep doing that indefinitely. Loperamide is an opiate and I will likely build a massive tolerance to it.

Am thinking of cutting down to 1.5mg a day, starting today, and see if that sorts the diarrhea out without use of Loperamide.

Failing this, does anyone know of a diarrhea med that won't produce tolerance?

Thanks :)

Try taking it before you go to bed, if you don't already.

I've been trying to distribute them through the day, so I'll try just before bed as suggested :)

Thanks :)

I think the power of his 2.5mg regimen has already been undercut by his anti-aromatase. He should still do better than 0.5mg, I think.

Tried taking all the pills at once last night.

I had a pretty bad time in the bathroom this morning :shakehead:

It hurts like hell. Are there consequences to long-term chemical induced diarrhea? If it's not going to do actual damage I might consider carrying on with my regimen regardless and putting up with it.

You left out a couple of critical pieces of information: how long have you been having the diarrhea, and how long have you been taking that dose of dutasateride?

Been on that dose about five weeks now. Had diarrhea for that time. I came off dutasteride for one day last week and I was back to normal.

This tells me that it's not dutasteride itself that is causing me the problem, it's whatever they put with it to make up the gel caps :shakehead:

Just my perverted luck is that, I don't get problems from the drug, I get problems from the vehicle it comes in.

Someone up there is laughing at me.

:badmood:

I agree with you 100%. Looks like a pretty open-and-shut case of a sensitivity to something else in the capsule. Probably that oil vehicle.

About all you can do is change-up the way you're taking it. You could try taking it along with different kinds of food, to see if that has any effect at all. Even try taking it DURING the other food, or just BEFORE it, or just AFTER it. Anything at all which could conceivably affect the problem.

I'm going to try that, if it doesn't work I'll sell the rest of my Dutas and get onto Veltride.

That's dutasteride that comes in pill form, not gel cap. I wonder if that affects its bioavailability/absorption any :dunno:

I'll go onto Veltride, which is a form of dutasteride that does not come in gel caps. It comes in solid tablets instead.

I'm not going on to Avodart for the same reason I'm discontinuing Dutas - because they are gel caps.

I've heard bad reports about Veltride, Stampede. I'm sure I've seen a few threads where people have doubted whether this stuff (or at least the version of it that folks are ordering off the net) is genuine.

Gutted :(

Back to finasteride it is then, with maybe a couple of cheeky dutasteride capsules every weekend.
