I've been on minoxidil (rogaine foam) for about 3 months now and in the past week I've been experiencing a sudden high pitched ringing sound in one ear which lasts for about 10 seconds and is followed by a short period where my hearing is noticeably muffled until it gradually returns to normal.
I've had ringing in my ears before I guess but not like this and very, very rarely (this is happening 10-15 times a day).
Confused by it all I thought I might as well see if it could be connected to the minoxidil. I was chuckling to myself as I typed it into google because I thought it was ridiculous I was becoming one of those internet weirdos that thinks every random problem is a side effect their hair loss treatment. I was basically 99.9% sure it couldnt be connected to a topical hair loss product.
HOWEVER, found some info which suggests small numbers of people have reported it as a side effect. Actually quite a lot of info floating around about minoxidil's connection with ringing in ears/tinntus.
Anyone else experienced this??? Do you think it really can be connected?
After my experience with finasteride I was SO HAPPY to have found a drug that I could tolerate and seems to be starting to work. Really don't want to quit it at a whim but if I gave myself permamnent hearing problems I'd never forgive myself.
Any similar experiences??
