Unless you have a great face and head shape, the shaved/bald look isn't for you. Most people look better with medium-long hair. Too well defined features and you'll look very harsh/severe/scary with short/no hair. Too round features and you'll look like a potato.

+1

One of the issues to me is that now I look harsh and severe whereas before I looked incredibly pleasant and approachable. This is a horrible disfigurement and it can change not just the way you look but also the overall demeanor of your appearance. It can make you look mean.

You say that long hair makes women "prettier". OK can we substitute the word "attractive" for the word you used - "pretty"? I hope we're agreeable that it's fair to say that even according to you long hair makes women more attractive. Well, the same things happen with a lot of men. A lot of men wear their hair short, and some men do look better with short hair, but some of those guys wearing their hair short would look better with longer hair. But they choose to have short hair. OK, that's their right. But anyway, the same as you acknowledge that long hair makes women look better it does the same thing for some men.

Are there any famous men at all that you can remember with long hair that would make you think that it would be sad if he lost his hair? Any men at all? Even one?

Some men look better with average-length hair than buzzed hair. I am not into long, '80s hair, especially on middle-aged guys. All women have their preferences.

Are you asking me about long-haired men losing their hair when they were young or the age they are now? Also, what do you mean by "sad"? Are you asking me if I think they'd look terribly unattractive if they lost their hair? When I was young, I thought Andre Agassi was gorgeous, and I loved his hair (but, to my surprise, it was mentioned here that he was wearing a hairpiece back then). When he shaved his head (many years ago, so I was a lot younger), I thought, "What a shame. He looks so different. I liked him better with hair." Now I think he looks better bald and shaved, and if I had to choose between dating him with his old hair or bald, I'd pick bald, no question. But again, I am soon to be 53 years old, not 23 or even 33. I can appreciate what I consider to be a handsome face, regardless of hair loss.

I think that typically men's hair styles get shorter as they age but I think that the main reason for that is because their hair thins out and as hair thins it makes it harder to wear it long. I can't even produce bangs anymore. Haven't been able to for years. I think that if men could make their hair look good as they age they would keep growing it at least somewhat longer.

I'm asking you about long haired men who lost their hair as they aged? Didn't you ever see a famous man with long hair who you thought it might be sad if he ever lost his hair. For example, what about Don Johnson in the "Miami Vice" TV series? Do you think it would be sad if Don Johnson, as he was in the "Miami Vice" TV series, lost his hair years later?

@ Shookwon. Considering your advice, I'd appreciate it if you checked my profile pictures and tell me whether I'm in shave it territory... I don't think I am, I think it still works for me, but I may be deluded as you state many balding men with longer hair are...

it's all personal preference.

I think your hair personally is a bit gone for the long hair style.

I think older guys look better with shorter hair, so no one comes to mind. Don Johnson had pretty-boy good looks, which aren't my preference.
