My hair looks better after applying Zix and the only buildup I got was caused by the calcium... Which I've excluded from the solution.

With your hair, zix should improve the appearance for you as well. The solution is yellow but it's not going to make your hair messy like stuff such as fenugreek seeds.

Keep in mind "Zix" is a loose word in this thread at the moment. We're pretty much all using modified versions.

TBH - the improved cosmetic and styling benefits is a huge reason im still using zix, other than ofc the prevention of hair loss.

hmmm... Ebay? This one looks like exactly the same zinc brand as it's shown on page 1. cheap and the feedback is good
Edit: sorry, you are looking for b6...
Well, I will be buying B6 (p5p) soon too and it will be on ebay but exactly to whom Idk

Yes, thats exactly the one I use. Ive tried a few, and used to use one called cypress (originally recommended from Joe's site), but they are no longer around. Pluspharma, after a few attempts has been the only one Ive found to be as effective. That said, there are probably others that are just as effective, I just saw no reason to keep searching when this brand has been working well for me.

so you dislike zix lol
Not at all! If it works for some people then that is great. You don't have to mix it though just buy it from Boots the chemist.

I suspect that the people who have had the most success probably had problem scalps and this has helped to re moisturise although there is a lot of evidence that castor oil & zinc are beneficial. I may even give it a go myself, apply minoxidil/ru then nappy cream to stop it escaping from my scalp.

Interesting post. I have a baby, and use zinc oxide on my chapped lips when I have a bad bout of it. I dont think applying to your scalp will be a non-messy solution, but maybe there is something to this.... Not to mention some swear by castor oil.

Can you use the B6 that pharmacies have or is it a special type of B6 that you have to use?

it needs to be b6 p5p. make sure it's not mixed with other items. The tablets I recommend have other stuff mixed into it, but Ive tried these out and find it still works.

Any science on why zinc sulfate and b6 should be beneficial against male pattern baldness?
not much of a scientific answer but I got this
http://www.progressivehealth.com/zinc-hair-loss.htm

To understand how zinc prevents hair loss, it is important to know how zinc deficiency can lead to hair loss.

One theory established that zinc deficiency leads to changes in the protein structure of hair follicles leading to weakening of their structural integrity. This means new hairs will fall off quicker than they should. The importance of zinc to hair regrowth has been confirmed in lab rats.

Furthermore, there are recorded cases of people whose hair changed back from dull, aging gray to their original colors when placed on diets rich in zinc.

Another study puts the importance of zinc to hair regrowth on the mineral’s crucial role in DNA and RNA production. This is a requirement for the efficient division of follicle cells leading to an improved anagen stage of the hair growth cycle.

In addition, the effectiveness of zinc in reversing hair loss due to negative enzymatic reactions has been demonstrated in topical application of the mineral.
I wish they could be a little more specific on how or in what way zinc's enzymatic reactions work

ok ! but yeah difference is zix is like a spray so really easy to apply. A mixture with castoir oil would be death for me haha my scalp is alreay oily enough..

Head and shoulders is seen to have benefits, and that's zinc pyrothione or something. Point is, other zinc may be effective, I just prefer not to deviate from the study that @Aethas posted.

"When the three substances (zinc, b6, azelaic acid) were added together at very low concentrations which had been shown to be ineffective alone, 90% inhibition of 5 alpha-reductase activity was obtained."
holy molly! well, that was "in vitro"... even if it lowers to 70% in vivo, it's probably enough to stop hairloss (even regrow)... I mean, we have
5 alpha-reductase on our non-balding areas.

It's like I'm cursed or something...
I just ordered 3 bottles of minoxidil from ebay and now I read this. Like fate giving me the middle finger while laughting. Well, I still need to pump up that PGE2, right?

Well my friend as I've been perpetually repeating, many have had success combining zix and minoxidil 1x daily applied a different times of the day (12 hours apart).

Been using zinc-only zix formula for the last four days (distilled water + 70% ethyl alcohol + zinc sulfate) and I think my scalp is actually feeling a bit better, less itchy, less red, etc. Only issue is I think the dried solution is creating white flakes on my scalp a few hrs after I apply it. Will this improve it by adding the b6? Any other tips to reduce the flaking phenomenon?
