Never taken any hairloss meds, should I use Propecia or dutasteride?

I've never taken any hairloss meds at all. I would describe myself now as NW1.5 diffusing (although my girlfriend thinks it's all in my head).

When you can tell, you can tell though. As has often been said, if you think you're losing hair, you probably are. Under certain bathroom lights, it's looking scary currently, although in ordinary light most people do not seem to notice it yet. I've noticed that Loreal Elvive provides an excellent thickening effect (try it out!)

I have actual diffuse hair LOSS, and not simply diffuse thinning of hair shafts, which I've heard may be more common. Judging by the rate of loss, I would say I have another year or so until it becomes officially noticeable to others.

My question is, should I jump straight on to the most effective medication available (Avodart), or should I use a less effective (although FDA approved) medication, i.e. Propecia? I have 2 months supply of Avodart sitting at home (genuine stuff), which I bought online in a panic when I first noticed I was losing hair about a year ago, though I've held off using it.

If you can make any suggestions re Propecia or Avodart, I'd love to hear reasons behind them. Thanks very much in advance!

Propecia is probably your best bet. Most people start with Propecia then go to Avodart if they don't see any results.

As with my case, I used Propecia with little results, and recession and diffuse occurred.

Avodart seems to be working. Even at the hairline.
