Any tips for rolling where you have hair (just not as dense as you'd like). I feel like I'm not getting that direct needle to scalp connection anywhere besides my temples due to my hair. I don't really want to cut my hair any shorter (it's about an inch long). Should I just blast it from all angles and do my best?

Temples are definitely getting devastated though, it hurts but I can bare it, I just go hard and fast. I don't get alot of redness but a few dozen little bloody spots along the hairline. And afterwards my scalp feels tingly.

Dermastamp, or buzz shorter, I buzz to a 1 and still lose hair when I roll

That sounds like a good idea as I also have a relatively full head of hair (only slight recession) and am doing derma roll as a preventative measure. Maybe tap water might have some things that could cause an infection? I don't know, but that is an excellent point nohawk.

Encouraging Update:

A few days after my last roll now that all the redness and flaking is gone, I have just discovered a dark black hair sprouting out of nowhere from the very middle of my bald temple.

I have never seen anything like it before.

I would try to photograph it but my iphone camera won't pick it up. Maybe if it keeps growing...

Getting a showerhead filter from Sprite or the other leading showerhead filter company would not only help against possible infection from the tapwater, but it would also provide a much cleaner, healthier water source. My hair thickness doubled when I was showering with one for 2 weeks and it was during this time that I saw observed the best results during my 14 weeks rolling.

Photos???

I think he may have said that he's going through a shed and would post photos once the hair had been recovered.

Not much sense posting photos mid-shed, don't you think?

Hi all,

I'm a long time lurker of these forums and this thread in particularly. Just wanted to say I appreciate all the work you guys are putting into this squeegee etc. I've never seen a thread with so much scientific studies and sources being presented to back up arguments and ideas regarding this, its great thing to see!

I've struggled with 'hair loss' for a long time and I started 'dermarolling' 12 weeks ago now. I'm not going to claim that I've had success or not that's up to the majority to decide.

Diffuse thinning

0.5mg Finasteride was used, daily, and using Minoxidil, twice per day, 7 months prior to this, with limited to no results.

Ketoconazole shampoo was also used but was not used on the day of the procedure, until 24 hours after, and then every day.

The brand of ketconzole shampoo used was ‘Regenepure’ up to week 8 when it was switched to ‘Revita’

The brand of minoxidil used was Spectral UHP 5% up to week 11 when it was switched for Foligain N5 5%.

Apologies for the picture quality on the earlier images.

its was only painful because she was grinding down as HARD as possible and repeatedly going back and forth in the same spot. Ive told her if she is going to do it again (which she seems to be rubbing her hands to) she has to spread the rol out more all over.

she enjoyed it WAY to much
Haha, same when my girlfriend does my rolling. But does it well, she does - and getting another person to roll for you is a damn good idea for practical reasons. They can externally put more pressure on your scalp than you can to yourself, they can hunt out the thin spots (e.g on the crown) easier than you can with a mirror, and so on. It's a sure way to a better rolling technique, IMO.

Shedding is a good sign! Embrace it!

- - - Updated - - -

I 3.0mm it yesterday night with a 192 needles. I am over what.. 18-19 weeks right now... Shedding is all gone.(Mine was pretty ****ing bad!) My hairline started to set in, hair are growing thicker everyday. Expecting a full recovery by next summer. life is good. Keep the rolling business going! :salut:

Squeegee,

Why did you increase to a 3.0mm roller squeegee? Hats off (literally) to you for having success with rolling. :bravo:

I'd like to start the same sequence myself. I've been doing foam and liquid minoxidil for my hairline but would put it on right after rolling. Is that bad? Are you twice a day for minoxidil and only once a week rolling? I would think the more rolling the better and I have been rolling 3-4 times a week at least. Thoughts?

Anfangm, the whole concept is wound HEALING, you have to give it time to heal that's why once a week

I am still debating..! I really don't know if weak rollings few times a week is better or a big aggressive rolling bring more results.. I just know that my hair look the best the first day or 2 after rolling mainly due to the extra blood migrating to the scalp..the vasodilation due to the hydrostatic pressure from the acute inflammatory.. 3.0mm is awesome.. it reach deeper so I have better chance to recruit more blood vessels and destroy fibrosis at the root of the follicles...

Shedding was madness! probably because I went overboard with the roller at first.. Anyhow, no more shedding at all and you can see my hairline trying to set in which is a good feeling.. You just need a better foundation for your hair to growth.

I've been rolling since mid-August, and as I've documented in the results thread, my vertex seems to have been improving at least through November, but my hair also seems thinner than it's been. I'm not sure if this is just the progression of MBP or shedding prior to thickening or what. I guess we'll know in a year if I'm a cueball or not.

Also semi-unrelated: can anyone recommend a good webcam or similar device for getting good photos of my scalp? Mine has pretty horrible focus.

That is way too much rolling, you are staying in inflammation stage and not activating repair stage which occurs 4 days after wounding. The repair stage and remodeling stage is where you will see results.

Understood but acute inflammation recruit growth factors which trigger de novo hairgrowth!

This might be yet another good answer to the pressing hard with lots of blood vs. lightly rolling with only a little blood question:

I know I am pressing harder on the front (behind hairline, hairline, temples) than the back (vertex) because of the natural leverage my arm has when I hold down the dermaroller.

I am seeing much better results in the front than I am in the back.

For me that puts the question to rest.

Are you seeing better results on the front vs. the back? How long have you been rolling for?

Anyone here have any experience with Gingko Biloba? I've read that it causes vasodilation, and just curious if it would be a good adjunct to rolling.

10th day post 7th roll

-0 shedding

-hair keep sprouting hairline and all over galea.

-galea elasticity remains increased.

-arteries behind ears stayed enlarged and pump much more blood towards galea.

-hair doesnt become oily even if i dont wash it for 5 days.

-existing hair remains with increased diameter.thick.

-lymph nodes around neck are almost gone.

at this leve i believe i healed 80% 8th roll comes tomorrow. lets all hope and pray that galea doesnt mutate to a more advanced biochemical enviroment earlier than the two year time frame that a wound keeps healing.

reporting from planet hair.

I agree. I've reduced my rolling to once every 10 days instead of once a week. I rolled last Wed. and I'm still flaking big chunks today so I feel the scalp is still healing. No need to wound again so soon, IMO.
