Sorry to keep going on, but I'm still looking around for advice.

Since July 2002 I've been maintaining very well. Some recession each year, but definitely slow enough to cope with.

Last few weeks I've had:

All over thinning in places I've never had any problems.

Greasy skin and scalp - Hair feels greasy and in bad condition.

Itching - A definite sign that things are not well.

Noticably increased libido

This can't all be a coincidence. Has anyone been in this position after good results with Propecia? Looks as though my hairloss has picked up and wants to move forward! All the symptoms above have confused - What can my body have done to make my skin greasy again? I'm not sure what to do at this point. Is it possible to have a shed that consists of thinning, but not much actual hair loss?

I'm considering Dutasteride soon, but don't know if it can help.

Pics have been updated. Thanks.

Looks like he is thinning somewhat since the start of the pictures, the hairline is staying put however.

Maybe you got some bunk propecia, or just going through a shed.

I wouldent switch regimens until spring, that way you can be sure its not something temporary. Then maybe add minoxidil.

I have to agree, you are not bald/balding...

Maybe you have a sort of hair loss anorexia where you see yourself as balding but those around you do not, just like Lindsay Lohan thinks she's fat.

Thats just a mature hairline. You do not have male pattern baldness. Good Bye!

dunno, check out pic 12 on his 2006 slide.

he is clearly losing hair. it looks awefully thin.

you guys think just because there is no bald spot then he's not losing hair.

I strongly disagree.. we all konw of diffused thinning.. this is what he is suffering from.

good luck man. I hope with my regimine my hair will get as good as yours. your really fourtunate it's worked for you this long.

Get a lab done. Check your testosterone levels. It's not clear to me that dutasteride would help. Stay on treatment.

It looks like you've thinned out since the first pictures were taken, but it's hard to tell for sure because you don't have good comparison pictures. try to take identical pictures (hair style, lighting, flash or no flash, wet/dry, distance, etc) as your first set so we can evaluate it properly.

What does it mean to get a lab done? I've been on propecia 2 1/2 years and am having very similar problems, diffusing like crazy, starting to look like i got a comb over shag. where do i get a lab done?

A "lab" is a blood test. I am suggesting Tom Smith get his hormone levels, etc. checked for greasy skin and libido problems.

But the shed is part of the hair cycle. Frankly, he's going to have to sit tight. As do we all.

Thanks for the responses. Its a difficult situation. I'm almost certain that all the symptoms that have hit me have something to do with an increase in testosterone. Not sure how having levels checked would help though. I'd still be in the same position - needing to lower them.

I'm on nizoral 3 times a week, have been since 2003. Also minoxidil on the hairline for 2 1/2 years with little results.

If things don't sort themselves out within the next two months or so then I'll have no choice but to move to Dutasteride.

Agreed. We're on the exact same page. I only suggested the lab, because I am very very conservative about stuff like this. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

As for the dutasteride... I'd say wait. But then again, I don't know what I would do if I were in your situation.

Again, sorry.
