If you’re going to come at me like that atleast learn about your subject... Tsuji never conducted any human study he just completed a pilot study on mice that is just to open the door and draw attention to his method. In other words still have everything to prove. Hate it or love it that’s the truth

Well it's not EVERYTHING to prove, he's apparently proven that if he puts two kinds of human cells together they'll generate a full working follicle, and that he can multiply these cells through enough generations to make this a viable treatment, and that he can even control the hair shaft thickness, colour, and growth direction. Now he just has to show they grow (safely) when the cells are implanted in a human scalp rather than a mouse's back. That's a hell of a lot less than everything in my book if this is an accurate summary.

Yeah but when you read studies advocating for animal suffering in trials with their main argument is that 9 out of 10 succeeded animal trials end up failing in human trials that gives you another whole perspective about this. He succeeded in mice just like tens of other treatments before, we have beeten baldness in mice since decades ago but when it comes to humans... well you know go big 3 or go home since 20 years now

Indeed but aren't most mouse studies just applying some chemical to inhibit or trigger this or that, and finding it makes mouse follicles grow better, and then hoping it'll work on human follicles too? This is human cells, full human follicles, already being successfully grown in a substrate that isn't their usual environment. I'll be stunned if these things won't grow in human skin too, it sounds like the easy bit of this whole thing.

Can someone please correct me if I am wrong?

Tsuji tries to extract a hair follicle from your scalp and turn it into endless amounts so that they can be fue’d on scalp without the existing donor limitations?

Are you serious?

Even when this becomes available its gonna take years before its even remotely at a price range, where the average bald man can afford it.

Guys this is what they said on private Japanese TV network they did a bunch of interviews in Kyoto a few days ago after the announcement and videos of that bald mouse

Sounded like it will be available quite soon but super expensive, at least for a while

I plan to have another hair transplant to get more density over my first hairline Fue and now I will also ask docs to be real aggressive since we dont have to worry about donor hair supply in the future once these treatments become more affordable in a decade or so

I guess this wont be covered by health insurance?
Lol

Guys remember it's automation that will make this widely available. And public awareness. Prices may drop faster than you think

It's even worse than what we anticipated. It may take a decade to save 150k even if you have a high paying job.

Now I have doubts if this will lower transplant costs.

Lol

This is only what you want to believe. The automation could only make the price fall to 100k at best.
Plus living in Japan and tourism is costly.

That doesn't make sense, there's hundreds of millions of people around the world that want this treatment and the process is not much harder than a hair transplant. It will take time to scale but the price won't stop at 100k when there's a huge market of people paying 20k or sth.
First you squeeze money out of the big boys and get your investment back, then you bring the price down and make the big bucks.

I'm not saying 100s of millions of people will pay 20k of course but it's a big number

Slight correction: 15 million yen is 137k$ not 150

Now there's gonna be two parties on this site: those who will view this as a miracle since finally after millions of years of human history there's sth out there that actually works (knock on wood) and those who will whine on and on for months/years about the fact that celeb Chad Hardwood got to have his hair back and is slaying all the chicks while they're still on hairlosstalk every night after all these years

Well, at that cost i already know which party i'm gonna join...still here for a few years guys

137k$ seems ridiculous though, now i know why they are planning to treat 10'000 patients the first year, surely because these are the only ones who can afford it
