Nizoral could cause hair loss?

I had a weird scalp reaction to Nizoral a few months ago, but I don't believe I actually lost any hair from it. After a few uses, my hair and scalp became extremely oily and the color and texture appeared to have been stripped which did make my hair appear thinner. It's mostly back to normal now, but I won't use nizoral again. After searching the internet I found one reference that said if a person is allergic to sulfa based drugs they may have an adverse reaction to ketoconazole.....I am allergic to sulfa so I can only assume the reaction I had to Nizoral was from the allergy.

I think my hairloss increased a little. Very little actually. Also, I have a minor headache after applying it. Hair is more dry than usual. But OTOH, It really has a good control on my dandruff. So, I ll continue to experiement with it.

Actually, a little shedding is the least of your concerns when using Nizoral. Depending on whether you use 1% or 2% it is worth pointing out the inherent risks in using Nizoral twice a week, it has been posted on here many times that long term users end up 'feeling' (whatever they mean by that) more homosexual, obviously this stuff is not turning people gay as such, it is just that after extended periods of use there is a tendency towards a 'homosexual mood'

This was reported back as far as 2001 (Dr D Morailes) and has been investigated by no less than five separate trials.

Correction...I am shedding like crazy after using nizoral. I have left it for this week just to see how much less I shed when I am not using it.

That's not going to be a very good method. You have to keep in mind that hair sheds are usually caused by events that occurred 3-4 weeks before the onset of the shed.

This is why the commonly-experienced "minoxidil initial shed" occurs not right after starting minoxidil, but a month AFTER using it, as it takes this much time for the shock effect of a new environmental change to register, and incite dormant hairs to shed.

So, quitting Nizoral now would not show any impact on shedding until at least a few weeks have passed.

hahhaa, that graphic is hilarious!!!

homosexuality in percentage!! lol...

good joke

As for the question from beaner, I tell you that all the prospects from the BIG 3, all say that they could cause hairloss. minoxidil, Finas and Nizoral. I think they should not write that in the prospect, because a lot of us can panic about it. Imagine that the last thing we want is to loss hair with our treatment! :hairy:

Nizoral

Yeah I tried it for 3 or 4 weeks and my hair thinned out and had that prickly pimply thing going on. Maybe like 2 or 3. So I stoped using it. I had used it a long time ago but didn't notice that. The other thing that I started was body building. maybe that had something to do with it also. Who knows.
