He's very much having sex with this woman.

This guy's Salman Rushdie, an author. A big name in some circles, and certainly not poor. But I wouldn't put him in the category of the big-shot tycoons either.

Actually, we're all wrong. I knew Salman had a fit wife, which is why I assumed he was with her. I was wrong, but he is married to a supermodel, Padma Lakshmi. Here she is:

And here they are:

Why would any women be interested in a bald guy who has nothing going on for himself (or not much going on), when she can choose between guys with a full head of hair that also have nothing going on for themselfes...but at least they have nice hair?

1/ NW1s do cheat on their g/f, NW7s don't
2/ Most girls don't want their b/f to cheat on her
3/ We can safely assume that the girls who don't mind being cheated on don't mind their b/f appearence either

conclusion: every single girl does want (or at least wouldn't mind) NW7s, and despises NW1s. most of them just don't know it yet. just make them realise it :woot:

NB: there is no generalization in this post, just truisms :innocent:

I suppose this your attempt at being satirical? :jackit: :bravo: ....

whatever ... :jackit:

Look, all I was saying is that if all things are equal between two guys, minus the hair issue, the bald guy is going to be considered "lesser" of a man than the NW1 with a full head of hair by most women for that reason alone.

Most guys (bald or not) are "average Joes" at best. No matter how hard they try to achieve great success in everything they do, they aren't going to succeed at most of those things. (if anything at all for some guys). Mediocre/average/common guys are all they are ever going to be...not rich, super buffed, handsome, famous, popular...etc...That's just reality.

Hence, not every bald guy can "over achieve" in order to "compensate" for their hairloss. To expect oneself to is not being realistic. It will only set you up for a fall, and it only leads to a self-destructive path of frustration and depression. Then, the guy tries again...and fails...eventually, he winds up getting to a point where he becomes severly depressed and considers himself a complete failure.

So, to attempt to become someone like Salman Rushdie, for example, (I'm just using him as an example because his pic was posted here), just to gain respect (as a bald man) is foolish from my POV.

acording to that logic you just need to "compensate" enough to get back to where you started.

She's probably doing the hot teenage boy next door. I know how these type of marriages work.

Sorry, can I just understand your point? Having male pattern baldness sucks because you can't bang hot women?

You answered your own question.

In fact I didn't. The real issue is: male pattern baldness sucks because it triggers a strong lack of security of the individual, like a narcissistic dependency or whatever, I'm no psychologist. I'm sure there are women out there who prefer people with hair, no doubt about it, as I'm sure there are people who are great with the shaved look and people who don't, but I do see bald people going around with very attractive girls, so what? And I see many people who simply don't think their life has ended and simply go on, maybe helped by a good dose of autoirony.

So what I see here is a bunch of people very scared of being lesser human beings without their hair. Come on, some year ago I've read a guy writing that having cancer would be better, on this same board...

But until then, you wouldn't understand so for you to come on here and start saying that "being bald isn't so bad...blah, blah, blah"...is pointless as we've heard it all before a million times already. Save it.

The baldie I saw yesterday, with quite a hot chick with him, was NW5 at least, fully shaved. I bet he didn't even try propecia. I'm a diffuse thinner, with the thinning quite visible, by the way. I will be NW7 sometime in the future, this won't stop me from living, count on it.

Interesting thread this, I agree with so much here (from both sides).

The case in point initially, Salman Rushtie; on looks alone he is on the low end of the attractive scale, *but*

He is wealthy.
Witty and intelligent.
Very well connected.

He is also not a Hollywood actor, but he was a well respected author even before the drama with the Satanic Verses which got him into the headlines (and probably helped getting him into the underwear of his attractive girlfriends since).

The recurring misconception on this forum is the massive over simplification about what makes humans attractive to each other.

So many guys (and some gals) think it's just about initial first impressions and shallow physical appearance, the reality is it's far more complex than than that, though in what way depends on the context and given circumstances (e.g. if you only look for mates in night clubs, it's obvious why your views on human attraction are based on looks alone).

(All that aside, I'm currently single... go figure lol)

It's true, I think alot of guys on here are trapped in a very adolescent notion of sex and relationships. Not that that's totally wrong it's just, in reality, it's much much more complex.

However, to put "expectations" on yourself to become something you are not (i.e. - "Salman Rushdie") in order to "over compensate" is only going to lead most guys down a path of self-destruction and frustration.

That's all I'm saying.

A lot of bald guys hit the gym in order to "compensate" and even though it sounds superficial, it actually helps their self esteem and helps their success with women. Ever since I started shaving my head I have lost a lot of weight and I take a lot more pride in how I look without a shirt. What's wrong with compensating?

I think a lot of people confuse the effects of male pattern baldness with other things going on in your life. You're not as social as you were in college? You don't have the 6 pack you had when you were 16? All your friends are married and don't like to hit the bars with you any more? All of a sudden there are less single women in your social circle? All of this stuff comes with age, and its not a side effect of male pattern baldness.

And thats how it starts .... If you're already thinking about how the rest of you needs to look to (offset) the baldness, chances are your confidence in yourself overall is starting to slip.

I consider myself pretty secure and down to earth actually so no, my overall confidence is not slipping. You make it sound like a downward spiral. Its the opposite actually. When I first shaved my head I was shocked at my appearance, but since that moment of initial surprise, my confidence has been going up and up. Taking pride in my grooming, attire and fitness only makes it go higher!
