on Propecia and losing more hair

my boyfriend has been on Propecia for almost a year now, he also uses Rogaine Foam twice a day, and his hair has gotten WORSE since he started the Propecia. visibly worse. i honestly couldn't tell his hair was bad until a few months after he started using it.

i read about the 'shedding phase' but he's way past that, i think he should stop before he loses all his hair but he's scared.

since the Propecia hasn't helped regrow any hair, he shouldn't have anything to worry about right?

he also doesn't have ANY of the side effects, just it making his hair fall out!

maybe its his destiny to be bald...finasteride wont win the war if your male pattern baldness is really aggresive.

i believe in destiny so i won't discount that, but has this happened to anyone else before where the Propecia made your hair fall out or worse?

Even if finasteride doesn't "win the war" it's still very likely that it will slow it down. Take a look at the Propecia studies and compare to the placebo group. Shedding is normal for the first several weeks. Hairs normally follow a cycle of grow, shed, rest. When Finasteride or Minoxidil causes them to all synchronize and shed/grow out at the same time, this may make it seem like there are multiple "sheds". In actuality it means that the treatment is working, and that a significant number of hairs have been responding to the treatment. If shedding continues past one month without a several month period of growth in between then it may not be normal shedding.

i dont beleive finasteride wud cause this. But he needs to do what he feels right, yet after this amount of time, he shuda seen sumthing. How bad is his hair, maybe itl stop it soon.

I have heard so many stories where finasteride initially brought your hair below baseline and it then gradually thickened up your hair.

His hair loss may be too aggressive for even propecia. Not everyone responds to Propecia, and not everyone will see a halt in hair loss. Additionally, regrowth isn't always guaranteed.

So, while he's still losing hair, it may not because of Propecia not working.

If it's been a year and he's not seeing the hair loss slow down, he should probably stop using it as it may not be working.

he's been on Rogaine for 2 years...that i can honestly say has helped. when he started using it we noticed a difference.

maibe he should go on avodart, or if his hair is very sensetive to testosterone then it wont help, there are alsow other reasons to loose hair then just male pattern baldness. He should get a real check up at a specialist.

I think its very difficult to find out if not impossible.
