Oral Minoxidil 5mg or Just go with 10 mg?

I warn everyone not to use minoxidil on beards ever. Minoxidil is a hormonal med and beard hair and scalp hair might be in stasis equilibrium to some extent. This means guys with no beard seldom go bald while guys with heavy beards often do. The combo we rarely see is full hair, full beard and no body hair save pubic but it seems to be rare. I have seen guys with only touches of beard lose hair in the temples and then not progress but everyone is different. Races without substantial beard growth never go bald or almost never. Guys on here don't want to even think about it but my belief is any cure will result in no beard growth for young people like puberty blockers just for hair. It's not an outrageous idea to use finasteride at 15 preventatively.

I use a few different things so it's hard to pinpoint but these three pics below are from 26 months back. The one with hair is maybe three to four months ago. I will probably post more pics today. It is really long and much curlier now. It's thrilling like when my kids were born or when I got married or laid by so many dear XX's--I love you all for teaching a boy how to be ahem, a man.
What about guys like me? Shitty patchy beard and going bald at 22?

Correlation is not necessarily causation in terms of how beards and baldness are ultimately defined, I might think. I am sure some guys go bald with nary a hair below the lashes but we don't know how to fit this all together because if it's on multiple genes and one is more expressed in beard hair and the other more so in scalp hair, what happens if we have say six of the eight genes related to male pattern baldness? I had a friend with very little beard growth except the chin and a little on the masseter muscle areas and he balded only in front and the rest of the fringe was completely unaffected. What accounts for this? Or NW7's with perfect fringe versus guys with diffuse thinning who aren't quite bald?

I don't think you are asking whether to use 5mg vs. 10 mg but for newbies, it's best to start lower and titrate to lessen potential sides. I love your question and it would be great to have a thread on just that where we try to compile at least anecdotal info about frontal hair loss, male pattern baldness, diffuse thinning and the relative amounts of body hair and beard hair on the person so we could look at pictorial variance. Still with small variations things can turn out differently for two different people without doubt. I mostly noticed that I had more body hair and a better beard but less scalp hair than my father. Because I started treatment so young, I don't know if I would have been NW7 as I mostly had diffuse thinning with only an incipient bald spot, the kind that you spend ten minutes crying to comb right.

Is only 20 days with 5 mg so I don’t think is a lot of different. Just buzzed my hair and wanted to check it out

As you can see, this is problematic. Will really get the best possible result so wondering if I should take 10 mg oral minoxidil or go for 5 mg oral minoxidil?

What is the consequence and benefits of it?

I guess the midt-scalp is improving from the beginning, at least from the pictures or?

Five percent of topical minoxidil was moderately superior to 10% topical minoxidil and placebo in increasing hair regrowth opposite to the expected, the irritation was marked for 10% topical minoxidil. So, now with this fact you can decide which one is better.

Started with 5 mg oral and dropped the topical

Oral minoxidil is very tempting as I have no recession or crown loss, just some diffuse thinning, however sides such as pericardial effusion and pulmonary hypertension are making me think twice. You guys takings +5mg are brave. Personally I’d start by halving a 1.25mg tablet then up the dose to both halves twice a day. This drug is prescribed at as low as 0.25mg for woman. Gorgeous results though lol
