Damn you went full savage on the poor guy. Not that he didn't deserve it but, generally I don't go out of my way to rub sh*t like that in. As a superstious man I do worry about karma, God teaching me a lesson, etc....although if you're already bald yourself I guess the lesson has already been taught per say

Damn OP that's not very nice of you. You already know that empty feeling of being bald yet you rub it in that poor man's face. I hope you feel good about yourself. I'd never wish baldness on another man, not even my most hated enemy.

No f*** this karma attitude towards the guy, if anything he got his karma.

It may feel like every full head is saying "just shave it, why doesn't that guy just beef up and own it?!" But in reality many people don't force this idea on us, remain a respective silence that we can do what we want as they aren't in our shoes and don't understand - even if they're thinking "just shave it", many have the resolve to mind their own f*****g business.

So if someone does go out of their lane to stick their shitty half baked opinion in, then as much as nobody really deserves to go bald, they should be first in line.

Very little sympathy from me.

People always tell OTHER people to just shave it when they are not experiencing hair loss. When they experience it themselves they are more hesitant to become a sly cueball themselves.

If there was absolutely no hope for a cure and not a breath drawn about treatments, the average guy, myself and I'd say most here, would admit defeat at NW3 or severe diffuse, and slybald it...

So this is what the average guy thinks you naturally should do, as theyve never had to think about current treatments or a possible cure "whys that vain dude desperately holding on to that rat's nest? Everyone can see your secret, just give up".

And the truth to this thought is you do indeed get desperate, and justifiably so, then you scramble around looking for what's possible, treatments, hair transplant, maybe even an affordable cure, and you hold on to what you have.

The instinctive but irrational thoughts occur- if I shave it every 48 hours, will min and finasteride not be as effective? Will it ruin my donor? Most importantly- if a cure does come, will it rely on "live" hairs to spread to further working follicles?

Of course this is more down to instinct than science, and also goes hand in hand with the urge to keep battling, not accepting this can happen to you, and at least not going down without a fight.

So it all makes sense to get rid when you don't have to scramble for a solution, when it happens to you, then you understand why we instinctively feel the need to hold on in hope.

Usually, when people that mocked you see their own looks decay, they'll initiate "cope mode" and say that we all get older/uglier/balder anyway.

My uncle is like that, he didn't go bald but became borderline morbidly obese. And he often likes to say things like:

"I know, I don't need to be attractive for anyone anymore, so what's the point?!"

The guy has been divorced 4 times.

Some of them even go all spiritual: "Looks are not what matters in life, god hates vain people!"

My cousin started going down this path after his alopecia areata episode.

"It's all pointless anyway! I don't care about my self-imposed flaws because we're all going to die anyway!"

God humans can be masters of cope.
The only good thing about ageing is that it happens to all your peers as well.

All my mates are gaining weight, getting wrinkles and loosing hair - I feel like the standards of beauty get lower as we age.

I think by 45: all you need is a head of hair, not fat, an ok job, and an average face and you will be deemed a good catch. To be a good catch at 21, however, you need great hair, great face, perfect teeth, abs and all that.

Makes me think how since my teens I keep hearing this sh*t: " enjoy being skinny now, because in a few years your metabolism is going to slow down"

How much longer is a few years exactly? I'm a year and a half away from 30 now

Or when I was in my early 20's playing sports with people in their mid 20's, telling me "yea I'm not running hard because I'm old"

 right

People don't start gaining weight until their late 20s early 30s.

If you get to 35 and you are still slim then you will likely be thing forever.

I don't think its to do with slower metabolism and more to do with over-eating and not moving as much as you do when you are young.

Sometimes its quite surprising seeing skinny gain weight as you never would have thought they would

This is exactly what I'm talking about

It's always a "few years" away from whatever age I am. The same story I keep being told since my late teens

I'm sure you will be fine as long as you just watch what you eat and keep active

Same here, I've been told that since my teens.

My best friend and I made a bet, he's convinced I will be fat in my late 30's.

He already lost that bet. He's so convinced it will happen, it's laughable.

According to him and and the other people out there peddling this nonsense, becoming fat after your 30's is unavoidable.

Just something that happens to all of us with age, you know! Like hair loss, losing your teeth (yeah many people believe that too despite overwhelming evidence that if you take care of your teeth, you keep them until you die), getting awful leather skins and age spots (because of sun damage).

The "hair loss is just something that happens when you get old" comment particularly gets to me.

I was 16 when mine started: "part of getting old dude!"
Hair out of your ears and nose really does happen - I can promise that :)

I got them around 29 and couldn't believe it.

I also take longer to recover from the gym now then I did at 21 :(
