octyl salicylate sounds good. If it doubles as a UV protector, that is very good. I think UV rays accelorate hair loss somehow, if not just by mutating DNA. Maybe the hair loss mutation is the most stable from and the UV rays push it over the cliff. I know I don't have proof, but I find it more than a coincidence that hair loss starts in the areas where the scalp can be reached by the sun: the vertex and the hair line. Everywhere else is covered by hair. I've even seen guys get hair loss where they part their hair. Maybe that is tension loss, but we are not talking about a woman's tie pony tail. The guy just combs it. THose styles are rare, and not as rare as that hair loss pattern though, so I'm not sure. But I'm keeping the UV rays off my scalp.
