Peoples Shame Of Discussing Baldness

Because no one cares, same reason they don't discuss thin arms or too much chest hair or big ears. It's a minor cosmetic issue that people on here blow all out of proportion and end up with mental illnesses. The fact that no one discusses it should be a clue and listen to you father.

Are you kidding me? How can you compare thin arms or too much chest hair to baldness?! Those things do not dramatically change your appearance, baldness does. It's not a 'minor cosmetic issue' when you can no longer recognize the person staring back at you in the mirror. We live in a society where appearance matter greatly, so when you lose your hair and with it your identity, it matters. My life hasn't been ruined for nothing, and I can thank baldness for that.

By the way Marco, why are you even here if you think hair loss is no big deal? I'm sure you could find some other way to spend your precious time.

To add some counter balance do the doom and gloom posters.

No one discusses it becausr they pretend it's a non-problem, while mocking and rejecting (for women) bald men at the same time.

Don't pretend it doesn't happen.

Women will reject you because someone because they are unattractive, hair might or might no play a part. You are an example of man with hairloss who is very successful with women even before the hair transplant. I am as well but I accept some women would rule me out because of my baldness but I would never want to be with them so it leaves the ones who have a little depth.

If hairloss ruins your looks you were "all hair" and not attractive to begin with. This is provably true and totally and simple logic. Same as a women who looks like an 7-8 with a long makeup session but without it become unattractive.

No, I was attractive to begin with. But hair loss still ruined my looks (before I got my extensions). And haven't you heard the saying "you can put makeup on a pig, but it will still be a pig"? Makeup can enhance a woman's features but an ugly woman will not magically turn into a stunner with makeup. Yes, you can hide flaws and enhance your looks, but a fat whale will not become a supermodel if she puts on makeup.

It is irrelevant if a person ONLY looks attractive with hair. The fact is that they DID look attractive and they no longer do because of hair loss. Hence there is nothing wrong if such a person is stressed out about it. Your example of women enhancing their beauty with make up is not relevant because hair is not something artificial that people put on to enhance their beauty. If you want to compare make up, then compare it with wearing a wig or a toupee, not real hair.

You know you're talking to a woman here?

How delusional can you be? If a woman is 5 without hair, she was a 5 with long beautiful hair?

Get out of here!

Thank God for extensions! I recently had put in a sh*t ton of long, beautiful extensions so now my hair is back to waist-length. I don't know for how much longer I'll be able to get away with extensions though, but I hope it will be for some time.

The fact that no one discusses it should be a clue and listen to you father.

My dear father was a wonderfully talented artist who suffered depression most of his life ,
and who also had an inexplicable (at the time) phobia of baldness. He died unhappily outside the comforting surroundings of his home;
a poor NW1.5 geriatric Alzheimer's patient. :(

I will just report my experience with a girl named Serena (or so I will call her to protect her privacy).

Serena was a girl back in Florence in the Zara shop whom EVERYBODY liked (even other girls!) for her hair. I don't know what it was. It was wavy, very long, half brunette with "sun-colored" reflex (or may be one should say reflections?)

And we constantly made jokes about how lucky her husband was to rub his mug in her hair before going to sleep... Everyone did! Girls said "I would go lesbian for her hair!"

Now she was a 7 who could easily be a 5 without her wonderful hair.

Now that you mentioned it Roberto
I think I'm ready to run off with Serena now.

Yep, beautiful hair can make you gain several points looks-wise, or make you lose several points if you have crappy hair. I used to think about my hair as my best feature, as it was thick, long, shiny with natural wave. I got compliments on my hair all the time. Now people just ask me why I cut it short (shoulder length), and I find it hard explaining to them that I had to cut it short because of my hair loss. At least now that I had my integration extensions put in I appear to have a lucious head of long hair, even though it's bittersweet as I know it's not my real hair that looks like that anymore. But I guess I should be thankful that "solutions" like extensions exist, so I don't have to go down the dreaded wig-route too soon.

Yep, I'll attest to that.

Oh thank God I never was complimented for my hair, because everyone in town knew my bald bald dad!

Once a friend of the family when I was 14 even said "Roberto has nice curls! Let us hope they stay!"
They did not.

Hey! There is a line!

The credit is yours my friend, after all it was you who introduced the muse (Serena) in the first place. ;)
This spiritually starving world would morally profit with more Serenas gracing it.

If there was only an edit function, you would not have known(I still can't believe there isn't one, maybe I'm not looking carefully enough). I think it's my lack of "Salmon, Spinach, Avocados, ALmonds. RElax, relax, relax".

Dude...why are you even here?

Probably here (like a lot of Androgenetic Alopecia crippled guys here ) to remind himself how superior he once felt.

damnit, i am sorry to hear this. I am sure you've talked about it somewhere, but may I ask your situation? Androgenetic Alopecia?

Thanks for your sympathy. Yes, I suffer from Androgenetic Alopecia, and have been since the age of 20. My current situation is that my natural hair is heavily diffused all over (maybe a little less in the neck area), so I'm wearing integrated extensions that are attached to a net, to give me the appearance of a full head of hair. It's expensive and requires monthly maintenance, but it's better than walking around bald or wearing a full wig.
