Planning On Switching From Generic 1mg finasteride To 1.25 Mg (split Up), Will The Efficacy Be The Same?

The 'studies' show a flat dose response for serum dht levels only.
That's not true. The flat dose response is also measured for skin DHT levels and hair counts.

If ONE person has an experience that conflicts with these problems it could be due to any number of reasons. Overall finasteride is a strong drug, on average, but for a few people it isn't. Unfortunately those people have limited options.

How are the studies useful if there is no way of predicting if you will be the outlier?
A huge problem in my opinion.

The fact remains that .25 mg was not even close in effectiveness as .5 mg.for me. It was like I quit it cold turkey. Not just me,but many other people, so it is irresponsible to run around this forum telling people that .2 mg is just as effective as 5 mg. It isn't absolutely, and you have no idea if you are advising an outlier or not. IMO, the only predictor of how one will react to finasteride is based on baseline dht levels because we can't really measure anything else. It stands to reason that if someone has high-ish dht levels then they will likely benefit from finasteride. It's the balding dudes with low dht that need to approach finasteride low and slow.

No offense but no body is going to take your one experience over published studies. Just because you and "other people" experiences a change really doesnt mean anything. Noone said a low dose and the recommened dose is the same, its just not that different for most responders. Idk why your not understanding that your reaction to finasteride isnt evidence. Its like saying that because theres so many posts with sides on HairLossTalk.com that everyone gets sides at some point. Sorry thats not the case. Lets not forget that in japan .2 mg and 1mg are both recommended doses for male pattern baldness so its obvious that doses under .5 mg are effective. When you get a phd and want to report back with some real evidence let us know.

I really don't understand how you can say my experience along with that of others isn't evidence or doesn't mean anything. That's a completely retarded statement and it's very irresponsible. It shows that the 'flat dose response' doesn't hold true for everyone and people need to know that. This is fact. Might it for most? sure, I'm not disputing that, but people need to know the exceptions to the rule because it may apply to THEM. Don't you want others to have a complete understanding of this drug? .25 mg wasn't at all as effective as .5 mg for me and that means that others will have the same experience. What am I, an alien that has a freakish response to finasteride that no one else will have? Come on. Look, I want everyone to keep their hair just as much as you do, that's why I am against making blanket statements about finasteride. And yes, people say that low doses are just as effective as the standard dose all the time. Re-read this thread, David_MPN states that exactly. He actually states that quite a bit. People need to take the finasteride studies with a grain of salt, for their own best interests, because anyone can be the exception to the rule.
