Just wanted to give an update--the pleasureless orgasm totally went away about two weeks after stopping the med.

However, I'm desperate about my hair loss and also was wondering if the effects could've at least been partially anxiety and psyching myself out. I've been on it for a week again, and I do feel my libido is lower again with weaker orgasms, but not totally pleasureless as much as before... Is it possible this effect could go away if I let myself adjust to the med for longer, or am I playing with fire?

Dude stop playing with the med, you need to make a decision. Taking the med will most likely decrease your orgasm sensation (as it did to me), it may or may not disappear if you keep taking it, nobody will be able to give you a definitive answer. In my case, I'm still taking it because it hasn't stopped me from being able to have sex, you need to figure out if your degree of side effect is unbearable to you.

If you get on it now, stay on it and don’t come off unless you’re sure you won’t take it again. Two main reasons for this. 1) going on and off the drug and having your hormones fluctuate constantly is not good for your system 2) there are people who have jumped on and off trying to adjust and ended up with irreversible side effects.

Stay on it this time and if you decide to come off, make sure you don’t go back on again. Don’t force your body to accept the drug as you will be asking for trouble.

I know you are right. I have kind of an anxious/indecisive personality, and I just went off the drug the first time for the assurance the side effects would go away. But I do want to at least give this a full try before giving up on it. I just don't know how long to keep taking it if the side effects don't go away. Should I give it a couple months? There is so much conflicting information--some say to get off if you have side effects ASAP and others say it's not abnormal in the beginning and to give it some time.

It’s expected to have some side effects in the beginning as you’re body Is adjusting. I’m more surprised by people who don’t experience any side effects in the beginning compared to those that do.

However, in my opinion your body should adjust within days or weeks. It shouldn’t take months to adjust. I would give a few weeks or so to adjust. Less than a couple of months for sure.

Another update: I've been on the med for a month at this point. I had a week where my semen was watery and lowered in volume, but that has quickly gone away. However, the pleasureless orgasms are still there, though I have managed to have some okay orgasms a couple times in the past week. Really unsure how long to let my body "get used to it." My libido is also down a bit for sure, but I'm not sure if that's only because I have less desire to orgasm to begin with.

Update: I've stuck with the finasteride, and thankfully the pleasureless orgasm has mostly seemed to have gone! I still feel my libido is a bit lower overall and my orgasms aren't as "wow" as before maybe, but it's definitely way better than it was.
