i am getting more depressed each day , what i am getting from propecia is just nvr ending shed , and no regrowth of healthier hair , my hairline has gone back a lot and the density of the hair has also reduce a lot ! IS this even normal ? i am asian btw and do asian respond differently to propecia? The male pattern baldness gene comes from my mother side where most of the relatives there have moderate male pattern baldness , mostly NW2 at the age of 30 and nvr go beyond NW3 but the rate i am losing it , i think i gonna bald in like 5 years.

I have increased soreness after being on propecia ! is that normal ? I have been on and off propecia a few times. will being on and off propecia cause serious dmg to my follicles?

I started Propecia like during march last year , used it for a month or so and stopped , then got back on it during jun-july and used it for 2 months or so and stopped and finally i got back on it in like feb 2007 till now !

Please evaluate my situation and what i can do for my hair !

Hi NicolasLim!

In the beginning, I too had a little soreness but mainly alot of itching but it calmed down a bit around month 4. I lost some density in the front as well in the areas that were itching but it seems to shed and then regrow a bit, it is weird. I notice you stop and start Propecia, the only true way to evalute if it will work for you is to stick with it for 1 year. After that if you feel it is not working, drop it if you want. I don't think that you did any dammage to your hair, i think you just caused yourself alot of sheds. Do you use Minoxidil? I personally got the most regrowth with that. As far as being Asian, I do not believe that makes any difference to the efficiency of Propecia . Also try using Nizoral shampoo (unless you already do), leave it in for 15 minutes and then rinse it out and do this 3 times per week. It make calm you scalp a bit as well. I am at work now so it's hard for me to type alot but if you have any other questions however, feel free to post them or PM me. I will also try reading through some of your posts to get an idea of what you have tried as well. Hang in there and I hope this helps. :)

Thx a lot , i am using nizoral 1% twice weekly and i dont really notice any significant relief of soreness after using it , except that my hair is dry after using it.

I am not using minoxidil just yet because i read that minoxidil only works for approximately 5 years and it is a hassle to apply it.

I am looking into other supplement atm , i just bought green tea extract , is there anything else that i could add into my regimen ?

If you are going the natural route, you could try zinc sulfate and B6 and maybe Saw Palmetto or Beta Sitosterol (which is in Saw P).

I am more concern about the soreness on my temple and vertex area now , sometimes it is very bad and shouldnt the soreness be gone after using propecia?

I know what you are talking about. I had the soreness for about 2 month's in combo with the itching, after that the soreness stopped or so I thought. It seems to come and go, at least with me anyway.

So what should i do now ? should i increase the dosage and see how it goes? or should i try some topical to see if the itchiness is gone ? is there any topical that i can apply at home without being found out ( i have housemates and i dont want anyone to know that i am losing hair just yet )

Please tell me anything possible that will help with hairloss. Is exercising going to help at all ? and i am doing the Scalp exercise too whenever i am free but it doesnt seem to help , i am taking 2 green tea tablets daily too !

I have been shedding lately , on my hairline especially but i dont see any healthy hair growing out from my hairline !! i see minituarizing hair on my hairline instead! Do you guys experience this as well ? Is test the main culprit for hairloss for me and should i stop propecia ? i have a few major sheds on the hairline but each time i only see miniaturized hair growing on the hairline instead of healthier hair!

Most people shed the first few months and don't notice any significant regrowth or thickening until at least months 4-6. As you have been on it for no longer than 3 months its no wonder you haven't noticed any improvement. As i said before usually people shed the first few months and then thicker hair begins to grow in its place....so there is a good possibility the shedding could have been a good thing. I'd say stick with it for a year. The one year mark is usually where you will peak at regrowth. I didn't have any sheds the first few months, I did notice a thickening, but not till about month 6. Ive currently been going through a shed for a couple months but it seems to be slowing down and hopefully I will experience some more thickening afterwards. As far as the soreness on the temples go..im not sure about that but I agree with the propecia junkie that you should try nizoral...that might help with the soreness. And finally you might as well give minoxidil (rogaine) a shot.. it would be a powerful weapon to your regimen.

I'd say throw the fertilizer away yesterday and get a hair transplant if it bothers you that much, but again i'm biased.
