Proxiphen or just add topical spironolactone to the mix? Questions?

Well it has almost been 3 months since I dropped Propecia due to Reflex Hyperandrogenicity. My hair is doing alright on a regimen of Dr. Proctor's Nano and Prox-N along with 5% minoxidil but then again it has only been 2 and a half months. Sadly I know I need to get on some anti-androgen soon as my temples have gone back and my hairline has gone up some more along with thinning on the vertex becoming more obvious again it is only bound to get worse..

I really don't want to do oral anti-androgens because of my bad experience with Propecia, so I have looked at Proxiphen. While expensive, I have the cash to shell out for it for the first year. After that, things might become complicated yet at the same time if I am already using minoxidil and prox-n, why not just use spironolactone cream?

I know DH uses Proxiphen and he seems to be getting good results from it but he is still on Propecia so I am not for sure how much of it is benefitting them.

Topical spironolactone itself has a mixed track record as well but then again people were only using it by itself than say in a series of treatments.

My one fear though is that I might systematically absorb the spironolactone or Proxiphen which in case might make me go through Reflex again which i don't want.

So what do you guys think?

Oh yeah I dropped the Ell Cranell Alpha after 2 weeks as I noticed I was systematically absorbing it and was getting major nutaches and my hair was only getting thinner. That stuff is far more potent , at least to my body, than Propecia was.

Obsidian, if you are happy with your current treatments than stick with them before you change them. If you want to have an all in one simple treatment then Proxiphen would be the best choice. I don't think you will get systemic sides from Proxiphen as I have read people who have stopped Propecia and used Proxiphen did not get sides and were able to maintain well. If Norsk is still around he could tell you if you he got sides when he went on Proxiphen. I don't think he ever did. I did remember he may have got some type of irritation from a different version of Proxiphen when Proctor changed it. I have never had any problems with it. I cut my dosage of Propecia back to half a dose now. I was getting sides from it and now I just found out I may have a thyroid problem which my doctor claims cannot be due to Propecia. I have suspected a thyroid problem all along but my blood tests would not show it.

Well I guess for me I am just worried because i am not adressing the core factor of it all. I think I am a decent responder to treatments as my surrounding hair near the areas affected by male pattern baldness have thickened up some thanks to my regimen but I would just like to use something to stop/slow the process.

I am just hoping by this time in October things will look a little better

I would use prox-n and 5% sprio. Cheaper and just as effective IMO.
