Hi, I'm thinking about getting PRP. I am in Spain. I found a place called BHR Clinic. I emailed them and they said the PRP costs 200 euros.

Is this legit? There is another clinic the doctor does plastic surgery and all, he said 990 euros per treatment .I put that to the fact that he has been on the news and all for plastic surgery.

Should I go to BHR Clinic?

You should avoid PRP altogether and get on finasteride.

Unproven results. Inconsistency in the data provided by studies. Poor results from most anecdotal evidence and experiences I have seen. The only times I have seen it have success is when it is used in tandem with other medications such as finasteride or minoxidil, which of course makes it questionable what was doing the work. Either way, for the majority of people it isn't a viable or successful solution.

You acknowledge you have a problem, so use finasteride which has a proven track record and has an 85% chance of maintenance success rather than f*****g around with snakeoils like this.

How do you rate RU58841?

I have no personal experience with it. For some people it seems to work for others not at all, however it certainly isn't as effective across the board as finasteride.

I'd still personally avoid it due to the lack of detailed scientific data on it and potential sides or long term consequences. For 95% of people they're better off on finasteride, and 99% of people should opt for finasteride as their first attempt at an anti-androgen.

For all of you:
Finasteride treatment and male breast cancer: a register-based cohort study in four Nordic countries
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/cam4.1273/full

"A significant relationship is identified between those treated with finasteride and MBC"

It's interesting but it's still roughly 1/100000 among finasteride users vs .7/100000 in the general population. Also correlation doesn't imply causation. It's a VERY constrained study in its implications and certainly shouldn't put anyone off starting finasteride, virtually meaningless for 99.99% of users.

would you use it as a last resort? i was thinking of using it for a short time (a year or two) to protect my crown, until something else comes along. I just started .16mg of finasteride after going for a mid-scalp/hairline surgery at asmed. I'm just worried as my crown is thinning.

Post your ASMED photos, I'm going back in April which is nice. I would up the dose of finasteride to 0.25mg if you can, the efficacy curve drops back substantially below 0.2mg. I use 0.25mg and it's worked extremely well for 16 months.

While I agree with you on finasteride's solid track record with Androgenetic Alopecia, check the following study which used PRP with minoxidil + finasteride vs minoxidil + finasteride alone on the same patient. Results speak for themselves. I also found a common claim of shedding with finasteride supported with this study and most gains with finasteride coming in around 1 year mark.
Here is the link.

This is pretty much my thoughts too, potentially some minor synergistic benefits alongside separate treatments although the results there seem a bit off in comparison to what else I have seen in general, also sample size and follow up period issues.

Not all PRP is equal either which is another issue to consider and without an anti-androgen it is legitimately a waste of time once you're past the 1-2 year period.

Still not convinced by the data though as anecdotally from what I have seen it doesn't achieve what is suggested by various studies such as this, and of course there is often incentive to reach a certain conclusion before the trial is conducted in regards to high profit margin treatments like PRP. The anecdotal evidence isn't necessarily worse either in this case as the sample size of the studies I have looked at are tiny, and results inconsistent.
