Timi day three without Promox and my hair is way better. Ok I must confess I am still using Proxiphen and it does have a little minoxidil in it but NO alcohol and goes on clean. So I am starting to believe what I always believed the alcohol although in small amounts in the foam is still enough to cosmetically affect my hair. Or maybe small concentration of minoxidil work better for me. I am using Proxiphen in the am and Revivogen in the night. My hair looks the best today, it has looked in a long time. :bravo:

Today is 14 days off of any regrowth product in my hair. I am still losing between 50-150 hairs a day. This shedding is still way faster than the sub 50 hairs a day I was losing prior to using the foam. This current shedding cant still be because of the minoxidil in my system 2 weeks later can it? Also, after looking at the shedding thread it said that shedding will not last past 100 days. My hair has been shedding for well over 100 days now. What does this mean? Any more suggestions?

Thanks Again for all of you advise.

I am going on 3 weeks now without using minoxidil( other than what is in Proxiphen which is very little) and my hair shedding has decreased dramatically. My hair seems healthier and thicker. I did add some Follicare topical spray too which has all natural ingredients that block DHT and promotes hair growth. My face is no longer bloated. And I don't have as many "bad hair" days. I am just going to put my faith in Proctor's products and of course I still take my Propecia as my insurance policy just in case I do have male pattern baldness. I am hitting my hair loss at all angles now. If its Telogen Effluvium or male pattern baldness, I am covered.

Whats Telogen Effluvium?

Where do you get Follicare?
How much is it?

Telogen Effluvium stands for telogen effluvium which is hair loss due to stress. Follicare was 39.95 for a 2 months supply. I got it from hairlosswatch.com. Follicare topical spray is nice because it thickens the hair cosmetically. I used it many years ago with minoxidil and got good results. Now I am using it with Proxiphen and so far my hair is looking good. If my little diffuse area thickens up more I will be very happy. I know now Rogaine is not for me.

I used Rogaine foam for exactly 1 year and did not see very good results. I then got on Xandrox 15% and am quite quite happy with my results. I also use spironolactone Cream 5% at night time every other day to help out with any excess DHT build up. I am also on propecia.

In the past Rogaine 5% liquid definitely worked for me but was getting me dizzy and made my hair dry looking. I'm really not a big fan of the foam and felt it didn't really do anything for me. I was also using a can every 2 weeks religiously for a year.

Check my latest pic at http://www.KJPBrand.com that is my pic right on the front page and was taken 2 weeks ago.
Ha! That's my picture, man.

So do you basically recommend the Xandrox stuff over the Rogaine? Just curious.

For anyone else, I read the following about hair growth:

1) Active growth phase (called the anagen phase), which lasts up to several years. At any given time, the majority (85%) of our body hair is in this phase. During anagen, the hair has an abundance of melanin.
2) Regressive phase (catagen phase), which lasts about two weeks, during which the hair stops growing but is not yet shed. About 3 - 4% of our body hair is in this phase at any given time.
3) Resting phase (telogen phase), which lasts 5 - 6 weeks, at the end of which the hair falls out and a new hair begins to form. Approximately 10-13% of our body hair is in this phase at any one time.

To me, this means that people should generally expect to wait as long as 8 weeks (regressive + resting phases) before ANY new hair (natural or medically induced) to appear. Does this sound right to anyone? To that end, I am not expecting anything noticeable to really happen for 2-4 months. By that time, I may start Proscar (yikes, big step for me) which could actually lengthen the waiting process because of sheds and my body adjusting to taking the med. I am committed to a long haul here because it took a very long time for me to get to where I am. I only pay attention to the positive threads and focus on the 85% success of the foam product. Remember, sometimes even the placebo effect regrows hair because the patient thinks they are putting something on that regrows hair.

Best wishes.
