Rogaine-Nizoral 1% Update: 1months and 3 weeks UPDATED

Some info about myself, 19 years of age, diffuse thinning over the last 2 years, applied rogaine the front and back, till now I can see some results in my hairline, however I really wanted some growth in the front but I guess its too early since I just stopped shedding (shed lasted 3 weeks) 4 days ago.

Are these velus hairs on my hairline, is it possible for them to grow terminal? too early for frontal and vertex results as I didnt put any pictures up because I cant really notice a difference.

Any results I think are attributed to the rogaine-nizoral use,I also have been on finasteride for 15 days now and doubt that it had any effect yet.

Maybe some of them will grow a bit longer to make a cosmetic difference. You are young so I think its possible, but who knows.

Anyway, your thinning will continue if you don't use finasteride, so I recommend you go to your doctor and ask for it.

Like above I used same for 6 months, get finesteride and get folligen cream on the hairline to make them thicker, works best.

Well, I can't really get on finasteride since I live in Egypt and I doubt we have that here, plus if it was available I don't know if I would risk my penis on hair. What I really want is to save my hair for 2-3 more years until univ ends and then I don't mind shaving it all off.

Is it possible that this regimen could do this for me? What do you think of the early results so far?

You won't risk your penis. Only a very small percentage of users have side effects and apart from that from the people that have side effects 99% will have them disappeared after you stop using it. Otherwise docters wouldn't subscribe this kind of stuff. Considering your age it might be a little bit too soon for finasteride.

Apart from that I am not even sure if you have hairloss... A picture from above would help to see your total hairline (the best with your hairs brushed to the back of your head).

Well, regarding finasteride, I was a late bloomer, and I still am growing in height every year, anyways I doubt its available in my country so I'm screwed anyways.

Here are a few pictures, the first one is the before picture and the rest are the after pics. ( Using flash, parting hair, not taking a shower beforehand) I usually can cover up the baldness pretty well, the issue is the with the frontal part and the hair line. However I do believe there is quite a lot of growth.

Try using regenepure Dr shampoo daily as that contains ketoconozole and is less harsh then nizoral, plus using it regular eliminates dht and cleanses your scalp.

I don't know man, I'm really worried from the side effects and I'm still 19 and I don't think my body has finished growing yet. I've read some horrible stories on the finasteride side effects like on propeciahelp.com . It terrifies me, but I wonder if I were to go on it gradually if I could experience very little side effects. I guess I'll see next year if rogaine doesn't help maintain my hair or not.

It will be a problem buying proscar though, Any pharmacy will have them? 3ezaby, Wael, seif?? why is it so exepnsive 157 pounds , or is it because its 5 mg and so when you cut it into 5'th it lasts a lot longer. What will I tell them when they see a 19-20 year old boy going to buy a prostate drug?? If I were to take it, I would have to do it without my family's knowledge because no way will they ever allow me to take it.

I looked at your thread, I think maybe why the minoxidil didnt do you much good is because you probably bought from a bad company. I have kirkland min and rogaine foam, a friend got them for me from America but I think you can buy from amazon as they probably ship to Egypt.

I really hope rogaine can regrow and maintain my hair line and the rest. Is it possible that rogaine and nizoral can maintain my hair for another 2 years???

The vast majority of people like myself, my brother, several friends of mine have minor side effects at worst and maintain what hair they have. I started it 10+ yrs ago before any of these sscare mongers were up and active and it worked wonders. I have to admit if I was young now and doing research on fina I would be hesitant too, but just realize that the sides don't exist for most people from what I've seen and the ones that do are minro (only side I've had is if I gain weight I get more chest fat...just makes me stay more strict in my dieting)

You may have a point Quadzilla, what I plan for is to keep taking rogaine and nizoral for 3-4 months and analyze my how my hair is. I have a gut feeling that I can improve or maintain my hair for another 2 years using them.

but if I were to start taking proscar and dividing it into fifth's. would gradually going on it reduce the risk of side effects, say 1 mg once in 2 weeks, then 1mg twice in 2 weeks, then 1 mg thrice in 2 weeks until I reach 1 mg every day.

I guess if I develop side effects I can just quit immediately, but what worries me is the side effects which you cant feel like fertility etc...

we are all worried about side effects. but the psychological effect of hair loss can be more tough than propecia side effects. and can even cause erectile dysfunction . most people don't notice any side effects , and if you notice any side effect , you can continue taking the pill for one month more . if they don't disappear , you can stop . and you'll be back to normal. about propeciahelp, I think it's a war among pharmaceutical companies, propecia is FDA approved.
I used to buy proscar from a very small pharmacy near my house. splitting it into fifth . so the actual cost would be 33.6 EGP. . maybe the pharmacist thinks that I buy this drug for my father. he don't have the right to ask me why I buy this drug. I can buy sanitary napkins, if i want so fu** the pharmacist ) .
you can look also at all the threads in this forum . it's rare to find a success story on rogaine only. you're lucky to get rogaine foam from the USA but it's not enough, don't stop rogaine but add anti DHT. it'll cost me about 600 EGP to ship a 4 months supply of rogaine. (taxes, customs blah blah blah) which is exactly the same price in seif pharmacy. I don't think that rogaine & nizoral only can maintain your hair for 2 years. . it's up to you . it's your decision , not your family , so browse this forum more to get more info about hairloss products. and make your own decision

Yea, I guess your right. I'll give it 3 more months or so to notice how my hair is doing. As for minoxidil, My friend got 6 months supply and I am going to finish it in 3. I'm thinking of buying 6 months of kirkland minoxidil from amazon.com for 30 dollars, I'd say shipping would cost 20 more dollars maybe, or lets say 30. The total would be 60 dollars which is 360 pounds for 6 months supply versus the 500 pounds for 3 months supply of rogaine foam. How old are you yassin??

I guess the next month I will be using to read more about finasteride side effects. those people from propeciahelp really are scary.

What also scares me If I do decide to start it is

1) I take it, no side effect for a couple of months, and then BOOM I get hit with something medically serious

2) I try it, get side effects in the first month or so, and the side effects wont disappear


God, this is very difficult to decide whether to start it or not. I'll give it some time before deciding.

I would strongly recommend finasteride to anyone struggling with male pattern baldness...especiallu iof you start it when you still have a good amount of hair left. I basically conquered male pattern baldness with finasteride + nizoral for like 10+ yrs before I stupidly took a cycle of steroids which raped my scalp. Only reason I post here now...otherwise I would just be doing what I did before which is moving on with my life and totally forgetting I was ever even concerned with male pattern baldness.

Have you ever had your hair very short ? like 1/2mm ... you could try it once before you do anything else. A few years from now with no treatment you will be to scared perhaps to try it... now you still have an ok ammount of hair which will grow back within a few months. Consider it as an option. If it will look good maybe you won't bother.

never in my life have I had a buzz cut, and now that I wanted to try it , I won't because I'm pretty positive it will expose the hair loss much more. the long hairs help cover up the bald spots.

As for Proscar or finasteride, Is it possible that I may not get any serious side effects at all?

Myself, my brother, and a couple of guys I went to college with never had any serious sides...you could dose it every other day. Problem is for it to work you have to drastically lower your serum DHT levels and having drastically lower serum DHT levels is what causes the side effects afaik. I can only tell you that many people like myself and others took it, pretty much conquered male pattern baldness and moved on with their lives. The reason you don't hear much from them is obvious... Would you really hang around an male pattern baldness messageboard in ur spare time if you weren't concerned with hair loss anymore?

Early balder, you will regret not starting finasteride earlier.

3 months and no sides, I also take dutasteride on wednesdays. If I started when I was 20 I would probably have a full head of hair.

When I started finesteride I had sides I cut the dose and sides were bearable, now I'm on 1mg every other no sides, full hair. I think you should start small dose so your body gets used to it.

ok so I've decided that next month (after ramadan) I'll start going on proscar in addition to my rogaine and nizoral regime. What sort of results do you think a diffuse thinner like me can expect? I still haven't seen the full results of the rogaine but it definitely caused a good amount of growth on my hairline, but not yet on the front and back.

As for propecia, do you think I can grow back a good amount of my front hair or will that be due to rogaine and propecia will just maintain whatever is on there. When can I expect results of propecia 6 months? or can I see it before just like I did with the hairline with rogaine.
