my story is that im 23 and thinking in the front and in the back crown of my head. It has started to affect me because although it probly doesnt make that much of a difference, it affects how long i grow my hair and how healthy it looks. it makes me feel less confident because i feel like its something people notice and everything else about me is kept to perfection.

my father always had an issue with balding in the crown and actually had plugs put in but i thought i was supposed to take after my mothers side.

let me just say that i noticed slight slight thinking when i got to 21 but the real hair loss started when i starting taking testosterone for life style and body building reasons. now some of you might say why do that your self but even if i was to stop using excess amounts of testosterone for body building and for the way it makes me feel, i would still need to use a replacement dose because before i started my sex drive and body and cofidence was $#iT.

i wanted to get started right away on hair loss treatment. i know a little but obviosly not as much as i will once i have time to read.

i wanted to stay away from oral solutions because im only intrested in blocking dht in the scalp and dont want to affect my sex drive at all or the mentall affect dht has on the body

i wanted to start on i guess minoxidil and a topical dht blocker and what ever else is suggested but want to know where to start.

i plan on educatiing my self more but i would just like to know what is recomended as a minimal and not too expenisve oproach but pretty affective so that i can get the ball rolling. i plan on using minoxidil.com dr lee's site and would like if you could be specific when telling me what exactly to order cause im a laymen and easily confused. i want to start some treatment right away so please get me started before u tell me to do more research

i also take zoloft if its relavant at all

i want to thank any one for the help they are about to give. thanks

That's a myth. You can get teh baldness gene, iof that's what it is, from either side.

My mom's side has no baldness at all but I'm still balding, so I know it's a myth.

Since you said you want to stay away from Propecia, which I would reconsider if I were you(but it's your choice), I'd go buy generic 5% minoxidil for cheap from your local Wal-Mart, Sams Club, whatever. The minoxidil can help you regrow hair. Then get the 5% spironolactone cream from Dr Lee's site or wherever else you can find it and rub that on areas of balding and that should block the scalp DHT for you.

You should be able to get your minoxidil for under $100 a year cost, and the spironolactone 5% from Dr Lee for about $200 a year if you use it once a day.

If I personally have the choice between taking a pill once a day and having to rub stuff on my scalp twice a day, I'm choosing the pill every time. But that's just me.

you have a few things to consider. putting excess stress on your body ie. some non-naturaual supplementation supposedly will lead to some hairloss. Like the last post, propecia is probably what I would suggest. As far as side sexual side affects-- if you have them stop the treatment. Otherwise - there is always minoxidil. The best way to tackle male patern baldness is the big 3. minoxidil-propecia-nizoral

minoxidil is unnecessary unless you want to regrow, in my opinion. If you're happy with what you have and just want to keep it, then just use a dht inhibitor.

i want to regrow defiantly because i have thinned out.

sorry but can some one break down which things are which besides the minoxidil.

dc, when u say non natural suplementation do u mean my testesterone use or hair care use?

i think my main problem is i use very large amounts of test some parts of the year. so eventually if i dont see results i will think about an oral but i already have some depression and xeniety isssues so i want to try a topical first

i guess if ur saying i should u the big three, then what would be the strongest 2 i can use leaving out the oral for now??? thanks i want to order today from minxodil.com so it would be nice if you could point out the specifically what to order their. i really aprecciate the help thannks.

Try propecia. minoxidil won´t help much in the long-run. And the earlier u start, the less you´ll regret in the future.

minoxidil can help keep your hair too especially if you use it with a topical dht blocker or propecia. the generic stuff is as cheap as anything.

do i want them both with or with out proplyne glycol? and should i get the minoxidil with retin a?

i've heard that retin a isn't that helpful and it can irritate your scalp in the sun. i'd try it with propylene glycol first if it's cheaper- if it isn't then no biggie i guess? propylene glycol is sticky the more you have.

wet is better. leave it on. 2% liquid is cheap, then add oil and enough drops of non-lathering shampoo to emulsify the oil. I recommend nano.

If you are not using propecia, use the 5%. it will not do much by itself, but should slow your hair loss down some.

as long as possible. no reason to wash it off.

also i think spironolactone needs to be applied at least twice a day to work at its best.
