Yeah, he's one of the smartest in the field. The research is fairly preliminary, but it shows a lot of promise. They are probably well underway with the next step in the research, but it will be a while before we get another paper on this.

Edit: this is going to have tissue specific effects more so than most drugs. It will be a topical, not something like finasteride. I don't think it will be dangerous.

Uhm, if im not mistaken they found the SCUBE protein implications to hair growth through analysis of hairy moles. Moles are known to have increased cell activity and more prone to melanoma (skin cancer) than normal skin. I wonder if any of this has any connection.

The literal premise of finding SCUBE supposedly comes from the fact that interacting with Shh is highly dangerous. We have to assume that researchers had this in mind the whole time otherwise it seems focusing on this downstream (instead of Shh directly) would be completely pointless. So yeah, im optimistic it will be possible to deliver safely imo

But we all already have SCUBE3 in our bodies so if we topically increase SCUBE3 a dab in the scalp it's not like we would be adding something new and totally unpredictable to our bodies. Also, there are newer topical vehicles that can dramatically reduce how much active drug seeps deeper into the body when applied topically.

I wonder if it's possible to get SCUBE3 early or do we need to wait for it to go through all of the studies?

I don't think we are getting a small molecule for it, I think we're going to have to inject the protein. It is possible to get it, but getting proteins shipped to you without an actual research institution is more difficult than small molecules. It's also going to need to be encapsulated in liposomes to prevent it from being catabolized, and then injected. It has potential to work really well, but I'm not going that far for it based on preliminary research. It's probably less effective than r-spondin injections.
