Serious Eye Pain from minoxidil

Hey guys, I went on minoxidil (generic, 2%) in earnest about two weeks ago. I was applying it to my hairline, which I know doesnt work that well, but I thought I'd give it a try. I was putting it up pretty high on my forehead, in the part where there were still miniaturized hairs, not on my temples.

About a week after starting though, I started getting serious eye pain, in what feels like the muscles that focus my eyes. (Sorry, never was super knowledgeable about biology.)

In my right eye, mainly. It hurts intensely whenever I have to focus on anything up close. I stopped minoxidil right away, but the pain continued.

I booked an appointment with my optometrist but I'm just concerned. Has anyone else had this side effect? I noticed that vision loss has been associated with minoxidil in the past so I don't want to take any chances.

Ok cool.

I stopped minoxidil for about three days, pain in my right eye went down a bit. I started again, with a much lower dosage, but I've just had a HUGE flare up in pain.

Gonna stop minoxidil until the pain goes away for sure to make certain of the cause. But right now it's lookin like the culprit. Does anyone know if maybe it's the type I'm using? It's Life brand generic minoxidil, I wonder if maybe something in the carrier I am allergic to like I've heard some people saying.

Eye doctor didn't have anything useful to tell me, unfortunately.

Does it list the full ingredients on the Life brand minoxidil package? If it does, what are they?

minoxidil 2%, ethanol, propylene glycol, purified water.

The back only says consult the doctor in the case of swelling hands/feet, redness or dryness, chestpain, faintess, dizziness, or rapid weight gain.

I am now like 70% sure that my problem is just a coincidence, as I stopped taking either finasteride or minoxidil a week ago now, and the problem has only gotten worse. Hospital today to figure this out once and for all.

I'll post what I find even if it's totally unrelated to hair loss, just to make sure I'm not freaking out any future minoxidil/finasteride users and driving them away from a treatment that works for no reason!

Like I said, I'm pretty sure this is unrelated, now.
