Thank you for your question. I have
received a number of inquiries related to these articles and Shiseido’s use of IPSCs. We cannot verify the accuracy of this statement but what we can clarify is that the technology licensed from RepliCel Life Sciences, RCH-01, does not involve any cellular reprogramming or IPSC technology. Shiseido’s licensed technology from RepliCel (RCH-01) uses naturally occurring dermal sheath cup (DSC) cells isolated from DHT-hormone resistant hair follicles located at the back of the patient’s head. These cells are grown over several weeks to yield millions of new cells. These cells are returned to the patient/subject and injected into areas on the scalp where there is hair loss. These cells are not reprogrammed or changed into another cell type in any way. We simply grow more of the exact same cell.

RepliCel’s belief is that injections of RCH-01 replaces the androgen-sensitive DSC cells (responsible for maintaining the cell populations linked to hair fibre growth) with androgen-insensitive DSC cells. In each follicle that this is accomplished we believe the result will be permanent and result in hair growth in that follicle. What is required to halt the progression of the disease is the conversion of each susceptible follicle with androgen insensitive cells. We believe hair regrowth and halting disease progression are both ultimately achievable with our product. Shiseido and RepliCel both anticipate initiating clinical trials (Japan and Germany) testing different doses and multiple injections to determine what works best.

This is what I received after emailing and they have said it on their Facebook page as well. It makes you F*cking wonder doesn't it that they still don't have a clue what their partner was on about. I think I would like to know.

The trials are to be coordinated by the Charite in Berlin, one of Europe's best hospitals for clinical research.
It was supposed to be filed in Q4 2014, but they still haven't filed the application. Their current plan is to file in 2015, but who knows... I'm confident in the approach, bot not in the timeline.

Yes, I believe this will be the cure for several reasons.

1. Shiseido is a reputable company.
2. They built a whole research facility for RCH-01
3. They paid Replicel $4.2 M just to have rights to use technology.
4. There is 10 years of research with RCH-01.
5. The theory is solid. You are injecting your own cells back into you scalp to stimulate hair growth. Stem cell is the future for many things. Your essentially re-programming the cells.
6. Part of the agreement with Replicel was Royalties & Sales bonus caps. I think one o the first was when they hit $320 M Replicel gets a huge portion. Those are large numbers. Similar treatments involving growing and injecting cells around $3-$5K. I am just guessing they want to make this affordable because then some people who have become comfortable being bald will just say awe what the hell I will stay bald. Probably $8-10K
7. Replicel did not just sell their product off. Just the licensing to also use it. Replicel is still engineering to use themselves & performing there own test groups. if this was a joke or failure Replicel would just have sold it off & moved on.
8. I heard not confirmed, that Phase 2b results areas injected showed 20% new hair growth so far. This began early 2015. So still very new results. Now this sounds bad but they are injecting for efficacy & safety not how much they need for real regrowth. When they perfect how many ejections it should be much more improved.
9. 2018 is realistic. when this first comes out this will not be a cure. it will probably be another 3-5 years for then to perfect. Good news is this should grow enough hair to look decent. Then 2021-23 range I believe will be a cure.

Points 8, 9, & pricing is speculation. The rest is everything I have read. Lastly zero side effects so far. Japan also can jump from phase 2 to commercial. They just passed that regulations.

I hope you're right... I'm definitely getting tired of hearing people state that this will only be for maintanance, when not a single rep from either company has eluded to that!

Thank you for your answer. This sounds absolutely splendid to be honest.

Though they mention that they take the cells from the back of the head, which is usually resistent to hair loss? But what about patients who suffer from DUPA? I've suffered from DUPA since I was about 13 years old and I still got all my hair on the sides and back, but they're just thin buzzed, but the back of the head looks kinda thick when saved out. Would someone suffering from DUPA be a candidate for this treatment?

Or considering they use cells, would be possible to use cells from someones else head (family member) and inject in yours?

There hasn't even been a phase 2 yet so I have no idea what you are on about.

Can I claim I will have a baldness cure by 2020? I mean my statement is about as accurate as this one. How can anyone even guess at when or if a cure will happen unless its done and proven factually to be working? Its a silly thing to claim and removes credibility IMO right off the bat.

chongy that's awesome to hear about Japan regulations. Where could we find more about in what phase they can bring their treatment to market?

I certainly got my fingers crossed man, I just don't want to be fifty years old when RHC-01 comes out.

Just read the numerous threads regarding replicel and shiseido. People have been talking about the Japan regs for ages now. Also once you have read them you will know everything you need to know about RCH-01.
