What is the mechanism of action of this topical? I went on their website and it didn't give a basic overview. If I remember rightly it blocks a protein after the DHT enters the hair follicle? This would theoretically prevent less side effects because hormones would not be affected?

It should upregulate the WNT beta-catenin pathway, a network of signals implicated in early hair follicle development and the initiation of anagen

This pathway is proven to be disrupted after activation of the androgen receptor by DHT, which affects progenitor stem cells proliferation.

Would upregulation of WNT have any negative effects as far as you know?

It could cause cancer.
Search wnt signalling and cancer. Cancer patients have higher wnt signalling.

Total sh*t....its like saying you can die because of peanuts....WNT is involved in cancer, but anything is involved in cancer...growth hormones, growths factors...anything who can help to increase/speed cell reproduction can lead to cancer....

If a wnt agonist was really dangerous, Sammumed won't spend $$ on this drug...btw, this drug will be a topically one...

Stop being silly.

But should they follow up whether patients develop cancerous cells ?

Just read the thread. Do you guys have the study of phase 1 and 2. I mean 8 hairs per cm sounds bad, but on a Norwood 4 with bad density that could very well be a 20% growth. Also on a completely bald scalp 8 hair per cm Imho could be great news. I mean if it manages to grow from slick bald areas it could be great for diffuse thinners. Also I suppose the duration wasn't more than a year so maybe with more time you can get even better results.

I don’t know why people are freaking out about this. I have unpatterned diffuse and it looks like i have less than 30 hairs per square cm. That could mean a near 30% increase in density per square cm for some.

What are the implications of it being outside the US for anyone in America? I believe they're an American company so not sure how it will work.
Phase 1 and 2 (and 2b) studies were somewhat underwhelming. I thought they wanted to modify their formula and potentially do another phase II. Maybe they're doing it outside the US so they can change certain things without re-doing it.

Histogen = scammy before and after photos.

SM04554 = poor results.

You can forget about either of these 2 products being helpful.

HSC the verdict is still pending. Its not as scamny as PRP Acell or exosomes.

Not sure about calling SM poor results since the outcome was greater than baseline after stopping treatment. Shall we call this permanent maintenance with no sides?
