Can we please, PLEASE, put this to rest and stop with the duplicate threads every other day.
IF you are going bald, you are going bald because you are going bald.
NOT because you smoke, or you drink, or you wash your hair. Just please STOP already

THank you.

You have to understand, JayB, that we and them (not balding people) are on completely different pages. Since you have a tendency to bald you have to adjust your lifestyle accordingly.

And although smoking may not cause male pattern baldness, any health screwing habit will exacerbate our condition.

Right. that i can understand. If someone wants to quit because their afraid it may exacerbate their condition, it is understandable.
BUT PLEASE TO THE PEOPLE WHO THINK YOU ARE LOSING YOUR HAIR because of a cigarrette in your hand, STOP kidding yourself PLEASE

I don't think people relise that Colin Farell is actually loosing his hair quite fast. Must be AT LEAST Norwood 2 if not 3. Surely.

Also I cut down on smoking a few months ago, and have noticed a real improvement - though hat probably has more to do with the Procepia kicking in than anything else. See "Lopfraze's Story" for more details.

Yeah, heaven forbid someone should overestimate the impact of smoking on androgenetic alopecia and unnecessarily quit.

Haha, that was a good one, Dave.

I agree that smoking is not the cause of hair loss...yet I have ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT...that it will accelerate hairloss if one is predisposed to it...so put down that cig....

Well I guess it would be pretty difficult to tell if it accelerated hairloss because there really is no rhyme or reason to how fast someone loses their hair, could be slow one day and fast the next. Just a quick thought if smoking accelerated hairloss would it not effect hair on the whole head rather than the areas already balding. I believe sometimes correlations are made but these are often not cause and effect.

If you mention any celebrity, someone will say he's balding. No matter how far that can be from the truth.

I've been balding for nearly 4 years now, and I only started smoking within the last 9 months or so. I can say that with medication, my hair is getting better, not worse, and in fact has been improving more rapidly in the time period that I've been smoking, especially in the hardest area, the temples. Take that for what it's worth.

If you're meant to bald, you're gonna bald. Smoke up johnny.

While I don't believe smoking causes hairloss, I hope you'll decide to lay down the habit while you've only got one foot in. I smoked for 10 years (not a long time by most standards), and I can honestly say that quitting was one of the most difficult things I've ever done. I haven't smoked in 4 years...but to this day, I crave my Marlboros daily. Cigs grab ahold of you like nothing else. After a while, you don't realize how shitty you feel compared to when you didn't smoke. It's amazing.

If the health aspects don't scare you (and they should), consider this:

The amount spent on a pack per day habit, invested yearly over 20 years at the 50-year historical return of the S&P 500 Index will result in a nest egg of over $105,000. Yes, that's right.....your daily "pocket change" turns into real money. That's a long ways off, I know...but guys - there ain't nothin' like looking at your investment balance grow year after year.

OFF TOPIC BUT GOOD OF TIME AS ANY: Guys, make sure to max out your 401(k) plans at work, and contribute independently to a self-directed IRA (traditional or Roth) yearly. Don't say you can't make ends meet if you do. You always find a way, trust me.
