Someone I know was diagnosed with cancer. Puts things in perspective

Yeah. I don't find this helpful in terms of perspective as one doesn't exclude the other nor does it evaluate the intensity of the feelings about baldness. Age influences this a lot, probably but it's a logical fallacy to compare two things which are different in kind. How many of us have thought that maybe benign prostate cancer would get us the meds that might save our hair and an excuse for using them since they are mildly to extremely feminizing? <guilty>

Eg: Janey: "I lost $250 out of my billfold today!" Will: "Just be glad you aren't dying of cancer".

Non sequitur and irrelevant to the type of pain being felt with respect to losing money versus losing life.

If you never had had hair loss, would you have ever transitioned?

Probably not since I was focused then on hair and only later did the enchantment come from the rejuvenation and beard removal effects. Knowing what I know now though, yes, I would use HRT even if I had pretty good male hair. Not focusing on the hair, here's two pics and I would probably look facially still like the first guy unless my overall T levels were distorting my formerly nice face and aging it. I always looked young but when DHT comes for you, you can loose or lose your looks overnight. I had a mini-comeback with topical estrogen in pic three and I could have lived with this but then when I went on formal HRT, I lost ground since I was probably ingesting far less estradiol orally than I had been using topically. I then went on spironolactone and everything fell out:
