The media is to blame for giving us false hope, especially when they recently tooted SMP as being a "cure". LOL. Stupid f*cks.
We are in a much better situation now than 10 years ago. I don't think a cure is going to come soon though.
Hopefully it will be in our lifetime. But who knows, researchers can make one big single discovery and our troubles might be over. We are definitely getting closer.

In which things we are better now than 10 years ago? Yes, we are better in talking and lying about “cure is 5 years away“.
PGD2 discovery, mast cell pattering, the differences in derma papilla cells in the balding area and non balding areas, knowing about fat being thinner in the balding areas, curing of grey hair, mass producing the epithelial cells, growing of crappy human hair in the lab, fat cell signaling, FGF9 and lot more. There has been a lot of progress in understanding of stress and hairloss in mice and curing it. Also, as of right now nobody has promised there will be a cure in 5 years. I don't put my hopes on science curing baldness anytime soon, but I don't also deny the possibility of them making a big discovery either like they did with PGD2.

The major point you're missing is that all these findings are still steps on the way to a drug. Without novel findings aiding our understanding, there will never be a cure.

very true. If we knew of a child that was destined to get a certain type of cancer as an adult because of genetics why wouldn't we study that child? Why wouldn't we? Even if we knew a lot about the cancer.

And what is the result from these research? Zero, right?

We also know about cancer a lot of things before 20 years and what is the result? Still most people dying from it.
The knowledge that will cure baldness will be based on previous research. There have been major strides in cancer. In the 1960s some forms of cancer where a death sentence and now some of these same forms have survival rates of over 90 percent. Also, the PGD2 discovery is a good start for a new topical. Don't we also have minoxidill and propecia?

I do admit that cancer is much more treatable now but nothing close to a cure. Companies just making too much money from cancer patients. We need to go back to making cures and not stupid treatments.
