Switching From Topical To Oral Minoxidil

Minoxidil causes dormant folicles (which have a hair in them) to turn on now rather than later which results in the hair shedding to allow a new hair to grow in its place.

There's no avoiding that.

Any update on this? Topical minoxidil has stopped working for me. Any update on this thread would be a great help. Thanks!

Ron,

I had great success with Loniten but unfortunately I had to stop after a while, the only reason is because I started growing hair in strange places on my face where I never had hair before. I don't have a problem growing hair on my hands or beard, that was actually nice thing. But hair grown in my nose and ears was really annoying that I had to stop until I figure out how to get rid of them. I tried lowering the dose but that didn't work also. The good thing is I didn't have any sheds after I quit, my hair is thinner now than it was before but no sheds.

If anyone had the same problem on loniten, please share your experience and let us know how did you deal with that extra facial hair?

Hi all,

This is my first time posting in online forms. I hope I will get some feedback from here. I recently switched from topical minoxidil to loniten which is oral minoxidil. I did a lot of research into it and looking at the state of my hair right now, I decided to make the move and jump on loniten for a while.

After a lot of recommendations, I started with 5mg loniten once every day. Honestly, with all the warnings I read online I was scared to take the pill but I took it anyway and hoped for the good. To my luck, I only felt very little chest pain and louder heart beats for a couple of minutes. Those effects went away in the following days. The only side effect I still have is a headache that stays after I take the pill for couple of hours and then goes away.

I do want to ask you guys who used loniten, how is your hair now? And if you switched from topical to oral, how long it took you to see results? Please share your story.

I will update with my progress at least once every month.

Thanks..
I used oral minoxidil for a while. It made hair grew everywhere except where I needed it (the temples and beard region). And it fucked up my heart. Avoid.

I just got my Loniten 10mg in the mail today. I cut it in 2, taking 5mg. Idk if that's high or not. I read 2.5mg is is the ideal dosage.

Damnnnnn. I wish I read this before I bought it.

I'm a pretty hairless guy and really don't care about having much body hair.

Oh well, I only bought 1 bottle of 100 tablets. If I get the same hairy side effects you had without getting any regrowth on my head, I will stop it. If it works on my head and gives me hair elsewhere, i'll deal with it.

Can you recommend an online pharmacy for the minoxidil tabs, with no script needed.

I'm one month into oral minoxidil at 5mg - i've noticed my body hair and lashes increase in density, but I've shed a noticeable about of hair - it's terrifying. Anyone else experience this? Just wondering when to pull the plug and return to topical : (
Haven't experienced sides - and I'm monitored by my Doctor.
Thank you

I took 5mg a day and had incredible regrowth after 3 months but had to stop due to a possible gastrointestinal side effect. After stopping for 2 months I recently shed all the gains. :( anyway maybe I'll try again but with name brand Loniten.

Where is everyone buying their oral minoxidil? Is there an online pharmacy where a script is NOT needed?..please be specific about the site and which exact product and how you paid. Thanks so much!

I believe inhousepharmacy is your best bet.

Also an update: For anyone thinking about this switch - I'm still shedding an abhorrent amount in a way I have never shed in my life and it seems to have no plans to slow down. It's quite unnerving - even curls won't set together anymore and it's only been 3 weeks of this hair loss hell, but as of this morning, I found a tiny bit of fuzz along on my hairline and temples. It's only noticable in the light, but it's there. I don't believe there was fuzz here before. This is not an area that bothers me too much - I started thinning at the crown and it seems to push forward from there down the head and also back toward the occipital area. Will keep you posted x

I will share pics once I have something worthwhile, but at the moment I’m still deep in the unpleasant phase.

KSA did you get your loniten from inhouseoharmacy? Was the name advertised as loniten? How many milligrams? How did you pay?

Sorry, hon. I got it prescribed. After this morning’s shower shed, I have to say I’m not sure I want to keep this up anymore. Be real certain this is for you.

Ok I read most of these posts... I have tried every possible treatment... There is no magic bullet... Most of the folklore treatments are basically useless.. Let me save you a lot of time.. I started oral minoxidil 10 mg this is below the suggested dose for patients with hypertension.. It is a very small white pill but it is true it can upset stomach & be felt hours after taking. I suggest taking it first thing in AM with something else to mask the taste.
I noticed thickening of hair right away in hairline & sides, for that matter all over. This is something a topical application can’t do. I also take spirolactone which is very gentle to tolerate. This cuts down androgen effects in body.. No you won’t turn into a women, but you will have less acne and thicker hair. I also take some herbs to lessen androgens and hair vitamin pill.. My hair is thickening and I hope it continues. If you search online, you can get supplied.

Wonderful. Do you need prescription ? It is one of the major barrier for us to try.
