yes but there is a reason why men with hair thinning feel bad about it. it's biologically programmed.
No, it's not. There is no experimental research that has demonstrated hair loss biologically causes self-esteem.

Individuals who are high in neuroticism and introversion are more disposed to self-esteem issues, they're also more likely to seek out a forum online.

Baldness does not cause low self-esteem, it just correlates with it.
what is hair?

hair is a sign of youth, vitality, and virility. same reason guys are automatically turned off by fat girls in general. being skinny is a sign of health or vitality.
Actually being fat used to be a sign of significant wealth. Some of our expectations are social, not biological.

Regardless, your response hasn't demonstrated any biological causality between hair loss and self-esteem.

What constitutes being a loser anyway? Not having a million friends on facebook? Not dressing a certain way? I'm sure some people may look at me as a looser and others may think not because their criteria for being a loser is different. But I think you have touched on an important observation in asking WHY bald people are often percieved as losers.

Short answer, socially imposed stereotype.

I'd say a loser is anyone who is unhappy with their life in general.

Jesus christ.

They don't like your terrible attitude.

You're losing your hair, get over it. Stop crying on this forum about it, it changes nothing.

Good assumption SAF. Life in general, I'm content. Baldness is my only krux. So by that standard I suppose I'm not a loser. That is not to say that I don't think the term loser is subjective and has just become an abstract label meant to be derogatory.

One of my best friends is NW4/5 - thinning like no one's business and if anything, the baldness has added a new dimension to his life. He was always outgoing but he seems even more now that his hair is going and he's constantly getting chics, dates and women all drooling all over him. I certainly wouldn't associate him with loserness.

Me on the other hand,

You've been losing your hair for how many years, and are still on this forum, in this specific sub section.

If anyone needs to get over anything it would be you and hair loss. It's pretty sad actually.

But also amusing. :bravo:

How's your attitude towards hair loss now???
Did you get over it? Or has it brang you down once you realised your place at the bottom of the social order?

That is, if your hairloss has been aggressive.
Maybe you've been lucky.

Tell the truth.... No one will judge you if you now hate society.
Maybe ya'll just be too proud to whine. (BE A MAN) (fake bravardo)
But you did join a hair loss site after all.

not trying to sound racist here but has anyone just thought black guys look better bald because they predominantly just naturally have schity hair?
Afro American hair is not something most people desire like any other nationality. Most other races hair is fine, silky and can be styled. Black hair is usually less manageable, kinky/curly/nappy, and easily damaged due to dryness.
This is why many black men shave their heads or keep is EXTREMELY short and edged out.
Where white guys look better with hair because its the better of circumstances, black guys generally look better withOUT their natural hair.
Plus they have been doing it FOREVER so its easier to accept than a white guy doing it since for us it didnt really pick up until the late 90s and prior to that any bald (shaved) guy was a criminal.

as for loser=baldness, its all tropes.

The bald guys is always portrayed as to gufus and this probably sits because the gufus and "funny dork" can be socially acceptable in every day life as a bald man. You cant be john action man working in the office or dashing and leaping to serve tables. You dont want to appear like a convict, so most bald guys will just try to be "the funny guy" and accept being the butt of jokes just to get by in natural society. Unless they are REALLY high on the corporate food chain they just wont get respect or be taken as serious. I think this is why bald guys also get put into categories like military, police etc, instead of sales and bank teller. Professions where a bald man can be accepted.
Plus trying to be "good looking" as a white guy without hair is extremely tough. There are very few good looking bald white men.
Its funny you take 2 shaved bald guys, and one is a goob and the first thing you will notice is "oh hes bald" but then you can take mr manly man athlete tough guy like this

and bald will be the last thing you think of.
Its really a constant effort to just NOT appear bald.
