Hi all. The first pic of every pair is from 3 years ago and the rest are from today, I am almost 27 now. Do you guys notice a big difference? I can definitely notice thinning and recession. I just want to know what’s best to keep/thicken what I have or even gain a little bit back. I have tried oral finasteride twice and got sides both times. I tried topical finasteride by itself for about 6 months and didn’t see any benefit. Now I am on topical finasteride .05% and 6% minoxidil as of last week and will continue to do so for 6 months at least. I also bought a laser cap and that definitely didn’t do anything. What other options would you suggest? If you were me what treatments would you be using? Thank you for your input.

No thinning that I can see at all.
Don’t know if it’s the lighting that’s making it look okay but when I get my hair wet my hairline has definitely thinned out. I just want to thicken it up. I think I’m still in the early stages so I want to be on top of it!

age related thinning? if you have that hairline at 30 I doubt you're gonna end up going bald.

See hair is wet and you can see thinning/recession along the hairline. Trying to thicken that up.

I see what you mean, might be diffuse thinning, you could hop on finasteride
Damn you think diffuse thinning? I feel like I’ve always had thin hair, I hope that’s not the case.. and I’ve tried oral finasteride but have gotten sides both times.

Your hair is great, taking Finasteride does not mean you will grow hair, stabilising Hairloss whilst on the medication is a good sign. You could try adding ketaconazole and derma roller to stimulate growth, obviously you have added minoxidil now as well.

thanks dude but I’m definitely noticing thinning just the way my hair lays now or when my hair is damp… I just really want to rethicken my hairline if possible so anything helps. I’m using that Essegen-6 Plus which has .05 topical finasteride and 6% minoxidil so I’m praying this stuff works. Been applying every night for almost 3 weeks and think I’m shedding a bit. I see a few little hairs but don’t know if it’s miniaturization or regrowth. Feel like it’s miniaturization

I am gonna keep using along the hairline for like 3 months. Any other ideas that might work? Oral finasteride gives me sides as well I’ve tried twice, thanks.

Do you think this min+topical finasteride combo is going to work? I’m coming up on a month and feel like I’m shedding, I just pray this stuff can thicken up with this stuff, thanks.

At your age, they mostly work in combination for maintenance, not regrowth unless you move to oral minoxidil which is almost a completely different med in terms of results since many of us have underdeveloped sulfurotransferase development and sulfurotransferase is what makes Min do its thing.

I hope so I definitely am noticing some shedding rn at a month of daily application. I’m praying this is a good sign and these are weak hairs falling out so stronger ones comeback. Any experience with that??

Dang man! So how long have you been on it? You think it made you lose your hair?
That's from my adding 200mg daily of spironolactone to my low-dose estradiol routine which wasn't working as well as the Biestro had. The first pic is something that I could have lived with and my breast growth wasn't that substantial then but my hair still wasn't up to the standards of what I wanted. I added spironolactone and microneedling and massages and my entire scalp began to itch and I couldn't keep my hands out of it and in a month, it was all gone except for scraps.

Was I worried? No because knowledge is power and my life was falling apart otherwise. I later dumped spironolactone because of the sides which can be debilitating like you guys think finasteride is. Much more than estrogen, spironolactone made me weak and fatigued all of the time. I couldn't open the peanut butter jar or start the lawn mower but otherwise, the med works well for hair. I had a massive shed that I coin as a "benevolent shed".

What appears to happen is that the body perceives a dump of all current hair as much more efficient than having strands with mismatched anagen cycles and shaft diameters that differ greatly from the top of the strand to the bottom. I conjecture that it just dumps what's there and it starts over largely. I tell people that they have to have a plan before using any med that might cause sheds. This means a Washington Nationals baseball hat (Champs in 2019 just as I was bald) or a hair system or a crew cut or for androgynous folks, probably a wig but you need beard removal before donning any wig so I raced to do that and rode things out for now two years as Janey and people only know her with the wig which she needs less and less but now it's sort of my trademark so I will always use it and love it, on occasion. You guys can just get a crew cut but androgynous/female MtF's might have to hide under a wig for 24 months before our hair is long enough. Plus transgender folks have plenty of time. Males struggle to wait several years as I have but hair takes a long time. If one stops treatment after or during a shed, I am beginning to believe, that such sheds might be all but impossible to recover from based upon reading accounts claiming Min/finasteride "made me balder than I was".

I used to think that they were crazy but in the male, non-juvenile setting, hair is simply not a priority for the body to implement, scalp hair that is. White males have beards and often beard growth can equal hair growth for men even who aren't bald. So, if we stop treatment during a shed, it might come back some but anagen in general is dropping like a stone so if hair used to grow for two years which is about 12 inches before it falls out, now it might only grow for one. Females can grow hair during anagen for up to 7 years. This is what everyone misses. Hair counts depend upon anagen, not the other way around. I encourage the use of 2 percent minoxidil starting out. That's what I used and we all used until the 90's and I never heard about sheds and I never had one from min or finasteride but no regrowth ever either, which was fine. Maintenance is the male baldness cure, along with maybe oral min and microneedling but that's it. Nothing save oral min, microneedling and estrogen appear capable of regrowing hair so microneedling is a must. I am at 24 months now since my shed and microneedling is amazing. I cannot recommend it too much for hair but also for any exposed skin, meaning arms, face, hands and shoulders where it can, along with retin-A, which I also used on my entire scalp daily at least for a while, erase age and sun spots.

Best,
Janey

I've got the same hairs, mainly at my left temple where my hairline is thinning the most. It's either regrowth or miniaturization

You are using minoxidil as well? And how long have you been using it? Thanks, also do you think it’s true that minoxidil makes your face age more aggressively as well?

I don't see thinning, only temple recession. You should stay on finasteride for the long term.
