Hi everyone,

I’m considering seeing a chiropractor for some recurring back pain and was hoping to get some advice on how to choose the right one. What qualifications or certifications should I look for?

Are there specific techniques or approaches that are more effective for chronic pain? Also, should I be concerned about the cost and how insurance might cover it? Any personal experiences or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there,

When choosing a chiropractor, look for one who is licensed and has a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree from an accredited institution. It’s also helpful if they have additional certifications or specializations relevant to your condition, like sports medicine or pain management. If you’re in the area, a Chiropractor Prahran might be worth considering, as local professionals are familiar with the community's specific health concerns.

For chronic pain, techniques like spinal manipulation, mobilization, and therapeutic exercises might be beneficial. Ask about their approach to treatment and if they use a combination of therapies.

Regarding cost, many chiropractors accept insurance, but coverage varies. Check with both the chiropractor’s office and your insurance provider to understand your benefits and any out-of-pocket expenses.
