Too late for a regimen?

I am 33, NW5 going on 6 and I have never used any medication to treat my hair loss. From reading so many underwhelming results from users of the big 3 I came to the conclusion that I was too far gone for the meds to have any significant effect on me. Maybe because my follicles are too depleted due to the build up of dht over the years. My question is- is there any validaty to that assumption or will the big 3 or any variation thereof still be able to help me to the point where it is worth the investment?

It's hard to say unless you try.

Before I started my treatment I had a chat with a friend who is 39yo and NW5-6 bald. He shaves and it's hard to tell how much hair he has. I've known him for 10 years now, and when I first met him he was already NW3-4.

Anyway, I was telling him that I want to start a treatment because I remember he did a bit of a research about 8-9 years ago. He told me that he had a few sessions in a hair clinic and they injected some sort of DHT blocker into his scalp. He couldn't remember exactly what the treatment was but apparently he had to keep going there, but he quit the treatment just after 2 sessions. There was a bit of a regret in his voice, but he's happy with his life these days.

I'm telling you about my friend, because he was in a similar situation to yours. He wasn't sure what to do, didn't follow the treatment and he sounds slightly regretful that he quit. However, he's got other things in life going for him, and he doesn't miss his hair.

So, you can either come to terms with your loss, or do something about it. The choice is yours.

A treatment is not guaranteed to work, but if you try you might get the satisfaction of trying. If you don't try, you might keep wondering and asking yourself the "what if" question like my friend.

I was just trolling on another forum and I came across a similar topic. The general consensus is don't bother since only the fewest of the few actually regrow a significant amount of hair back, other wise I'd be wasting money I don't have. God, the meds suck. Here's to waiting and wanting for HM and hopefully not dying in the process. :thumbdown2:

hairloss treatments tend to prevent or slow down hair loss better than grow it back. maximum regrowth is usually seen in the early days of hair loss because the affected hair follicles are still capable of growing new hair, im afraid NW5 is too late since by then much of your hair follicles have been destroyed.

If he recently lost this hair then there is hope. If he has been bald in the area for many years, a waste of time.

However, even if the guy is considering a transplant, it would be beneficial to be on finasteride to keep the density of the sides

I have seen two guys here get very good results and were almost slick bald. One of them was on other stuff besides finasteride which you don't want to touch (i.e. transexual regimen) and the other was a guy who I don't remember his name but had awesome results just with finasteride alone.

Generally, even the big three, is good for mostly maintenance. Some regrowth is obviously seen but in cases of advanced hairloss it will not be enough for a cosmetic effect.

I was looking over at the results of skin hair transplants that stuff looks amazing with good results. Might be an idea to check that section of this forum?

Im 31 this year and id say Norwood 2.5-3, left it far too late frankly also just had too much in my life to deal with but regret also not starting when I was 21...

Way I see if why not give it a go you may get good results starting on the big 3... some people have freaky responses to it.

Having recently just shaved off my head, having said that that on its own is pretty good... people can comment on the bald guy but why not be there or be square, my mother and staff at work were shocked when they saw me lol but later get use to the new you....
