yes thats right, you do need some sort of spray.

but have you guys noticed something... it takes a while to get out and i use so much spray that my hair gets white residue.

sometimes i think i should just go al naturale and not worry about what others think.

RB...i *totally* agree - days when i use toppik and i have to use a little extra hairspray to hold it in place, that spray is then so hard to wash out and the ends of my hair get a dry white residue...it's annoying when it happens 8O

Having to use Toppik at all is a pain in the *** but it covers well.

my 2 cents

I havent had any problem with the "white residue" at the end of the day. I use finesse hairspray to lock toppik in place...works very well.

I have since switched hairsprays to hold my toppik/hair in place on a windy day.

I have been using American Crew spray. It says it washes out completely, but I think it washes out about 99%. Much better than before.

on another note, my hair has grown in somewhat since my shietty haircut. I am sending Kevin pictures of myself today, just 5 minutes ago i took some snaps from a digital camera.

New to toppik

I've read your Toppik posts with a lot of interests. I'm currently using a system and want to get off it. I hope u guys can answer some questions i have:

1. Will toppik work on really short hair? Mine is very thin, short and stubbly and i've heard nothing about using Toppik on this hair type.

2. One of the reasons i want to ditch the system is that while i dont swim i do a lot of excercise, soccer and the gym so sweat a lot. Is Toppik really effective for that?

3. Has anyone used both a system and toppik before? Which is better?

Good site by the way!

Cheers.

cantona...oooh, aaaaah...not sure toppik will work too well on short thin stubbly hair - my feeling is dermmatch could be better on that...i've used toppik during exercise before, mostly soccer, and it's never come off or run or anything, and i've heard dermmatch is the same :)

toppik on short hair

I tried toppik on hair approx 1/2 " length and it did not work well. I also found you must have decent fuzz or some thin hair for the toppik to cling to, I have a few areas nearly slick bald and toppik did not work at all in these areas, so in the end I made the hairy areas a bit thicker, but the bald areas contrasted greater so it wasn't really effective. I just ordered dermatch.

I went to a swimming party with Dermatch in and it didn't come off one bit. (I tested in the bath tub the night before) It does make your hair feel kinda funky though.

Poet...yep Toppik definitely needs a reasonable amount of hair to work with...those pictures on their website are bollocks, no way could you get that effect with what he had to start with...for me it works well on about 1 - 2 inch length hair because i have a decent amount left and no slick spots

It makes you wonder why a company with a good product like Toppik has to go and use those pics. Many people avoid even trying the stuff because they see pics like that.

Toppik is good, as good as any product around but do you guys ever feel like it gives you the impression you're wearing a "rug"? Some people assume I'm wearing one which really pisses me off. :x

i am just wondering how effective toppik is for frontal hairloss, in some places i hear it's better for the vertex, then some say there aer special techniques to maximize toppik use on the hairline and temps, if so what are they

i don't think there are any "special techniques" for using it at the front & hairline, just common sense....you don't need to throw loads of it on from a close distance as it will all lump on your hair there and also fall onto your scalp and show through the hair on your temples....use a little light sprinkle at a time, and keep checking none has gone through onto your scalp at the temples, then just spray it to secure it in place then stlye how you wish

it just takes a bit more care is all

toppik vs Couvre

thanks for your answers: so the consenus say toppik is great for the vertex and so so for the temps would couvre be a good alternative for the temps then, maximizing results

The only problem I have with Toppik is that the medium brown is too dark and the light brown is too light. I've tried mixing the two, but it still comes out too dark. I would love if they made another color called, 'medium-light brown.' That would be perfect for me. 8)
