It means that the guy progressed from NW2 to 3. Just an example.

okay, so u mean in her years of experience of prescribing it, everyone on propecia kept their hair, apart from that one guy?

May be more than 1 guy though. But yea thats the gist of what she said. Not sure how legit it is though.

Then again, the propecia 5 year study did show that 90% of men do have regrow or maintain at the 5 year mark. About 10% experienced further loss. Out of the 10%, I am pretty sure that it is extremely rare to see rapid progression in male pattern baldness. Thus I think her claim is not without merit.

hmm, well i know when people jump on propecia early they usually keep most of their hair for a long time to come, i think early meaning no more than Norwood 2 or something.

Mate i think the meds are working nicely for you... nizoral seems to have sorted your oily scalp out... Just need to keep your chin up and stop fretting... this i find is the hardest thing to do but yourve just got to remind yourself that no1 is really as bother about your hair as you think they are...its just all in the mind!

Good luck and take it easy!

@ patrik:
Yea i got onto propecia at NW2. Hopefully it can hold my hair long enough for histogen or aderans to come out, then I will be a happy camper :)

@n0142248:
Thanks for your comment though I think its kinda too early to tell whether the meds are working. Just been a month. However, I really do agree with you that I need to stop fretting. I find myself thinking so much about my hair that its bordering on obsession.

Re: Vanzzzz's Story-(24 temple hair loss) week 5 update

Hey guys my 5th week on 1mg propecia and 2% nizoral EOD

I feel like my thinning at the temples have gotten worse. They look worse in some pics but look similar in other pics. The thing about hair loss is that it made me inspect my hair so much more that I may be seeing things that are not there. Hence I hope u guys can give me some objective feedback.

For your ease of looking I will upload the aug 09 pic together with the current pic. Oh yea I have decided against posting frontal top pics since I do not have really good pre treatment pics of it.

What's all the fuss about, good you are on meds but damn, if I'd see you on the street I'd count you as an NW1..

I know my hair loss is mild right now, but I am worried about it becoming worse, as I am sure most of us are. I admit I may have been rather obsessive about it though, but my temples are really thin....

I'd stop worrying about it, looks like the temple has gotten better to me actually.

Re: Vanzzzz's Story-(24 temple hair loss) week 5 update

zzzzz close to 6 weeks of finasteride and nizoral, I was shocked today that I saw over 20 hair shedding from the back of my head, ie the safe zone. Is this normal shedding from finasteride?

Saw over 70 hair in the shower today, with the main bulk being thick and healthy hair. Man the shedding is really getting me down, although it doesnt seem that bad from the photos, but I can really feel my hair getting thinner at the top and the back.

Hopefully this will start to reverse in the next few months.........

Week 6 on 1mg finasteride and Nizoral EOD.

Negative progress. As mentioned earlier, I seem to be shedding more hair in the shower. Last time I used to shed about 30-50, while now I am shedding anything from 70-100. Is this shedding normal especially since I am not using minoxidil?

It seems that my right temple has started to thin behind the initial spot. Hopefully I will see some results from finasteride soon and maybe minoxidil, which I will be starting at the end of this month, will allow me to get some regrowth.

Re: Vanzzzz's Story-(24 hair loss) week 6 update with pics

Ok guys it has been a year since I've first noticed my hairloss. I took some photos at baseline and was comparing with my current situation today. I have been on finasteride 1mg for about 10 weeks now and rogaine foam for about 2 weeks, still too early to see any effect from treatment i think.

Anyway I have uploaded some pics for you guys to see whether I have regressed from baseline. Will appreciate any feedback.

I think when I clicked on the pic I can actually see tiny hair sprouting out from my right temple. Not sure whether I am seeing things or not.

In any case, I will just continue with my meds and hope for the best. Then again, it could be just my normal hair growing and nothing to do with the meds.

Hey guys after looking at the pics again I think i can really see a difference between week 6 and 10. There seem to be some fine hair growing at the temple.

What do you guys think?

Re: Vanzzzz's Story-(24 hair loss) week 12 update with pics

Hey guys, it has been a while since I last posted any pics or update. So here it is. 12 weeks on 1mg finasteride everyday, 4 weeks on 5% rogaine foam applied once a day at night, and 2% nizoral EOD.

I tried to get the same angle for the pics, but I am sorry about the different lighting. The 2009 pic was taken in the afternoon while the 2010 pic was taken in the evening...

Personally I think my temples have either maintained or thickened up slightly. What do you guys think?

edit: added some pics in similar lighting for easier comparison

Looks a bit better to me. A lot "fuller" in the edges of the hairline.

Thx grayman. The problem with most of us is that we are afraid to trust our own eyes, especially with regard to any potential improvement.

It means a lot for me to hear ppl having the same view as me. Shows that I am not deceiving myself or seeing things that are not there.

Hey guys, I am seeing quite a bit of hair growing out on my hairline. Now it is still pretty fine and minor, but I will post up some pics in about a month's time to show my progress.
