vellus hairs

hey, this is a question.. how long do vellus hairs grow? I have dozens growing on my hairline (which took a very hit the last 3 weeks).. and they are now more than a 1/2" long and seem to be getting longer.. however, they are not as dark as my other hair.. are they still vellus or just thinned out terminal hairs? thanks...

They are not vellus hairs when they are an half inch long.

they are not? how long do vellus hairs become (in inches)? i'm desperate to grow new hair in my hairline (since i've lost 50% of my thick hairs in the past 4 weeks) i dont care if the hairs are thin...
