What type of hairs are good hairs to lose ?

On finasteride 1mg a day and am losing very healthy long hairs with the little white ball at the end … bad sign ?

No I shed a shitload when I started finasteride and my hair all grew back way stronger. The shock of starting the treatment however normally just causes your hair to be pushed prematurely into resting. How well they grow back will depend on how a person responds

Are you saying you are shedding more now, Since upping the dose 3 months ago, or have you always shed this much throughout the 3 years you have been on it?

If you haven't switched brands, its likely to be a reaction to the increase in dose.

its likely to just be a reaction to the increase in dose then.

I think its bad if all the hairs that you shed are shorter miniaturizing hairs but healthy hairs should grow back just fine.

Shedding isn’t actually that indicative of thinning. It depends entirely if those hairs stay in prolonged resting + if they grow back thicker / thinner or not. You might just be going through a seasonal shed

I used to read , I’d it had bulb it would grow back and if it doesn’t have a bulb it wouldn’t. However I think I also read a few years back that that’s nonsense

How much do u shed everyday? Do u count it in the shower? If so how many?

Like Ollie said, shedding doesn't mean you are necessarily losing more hair. If your hair is getting "pushed" into the next growth phase, then that can cause shedding. The key is to net in the positive, growing more hair back than you are losing. Which, is a very likely thing if you upped your dosage recently. Remember, shedding is a sign that you are responding to the medication. And, just because 1mg only blocks 5% more DHT than 0.5mg, that is only in the SERUM. It might be 10% in the SCALP (although I am not sure we have figures on scalp DHT for dosages lower than 1mg, I am just pointing out that the serum and the scalp often differ - for example, finasteride blocks 60-70% DHT in the serum, but only 40-50% in the scalp). Anyways, it's probably a positive sign and you should try to wait it out.

If I alter my regimen I may be up to 100. But I think 50-100 is too high for a "healthy" scalp IMO, for most people anyway; however it should be stated that some people appear to shed a lot but still have full heads of hair though. But when my hair is stable I really only shed like 20 a day. When I started finasteride for the first time I was probably shedding 100 or more hairs a day, my drain was full of hair, but after a few months it went down to the 20-50 range.

When everything is working, Mines really low, so I can't really notice any excessive shedding, it's kind of stable like pre balding, but that is after a long time on finasteride so maybe i'm pickled.

I buzzed my hair last month but before that I was shedding 20 per day. 34 at most, and this number usually happened whenever I had dermatitis or folliculitis break outs. But whatever triggered my hair loss/T.E in the first place, made me shed hundreds per day. This was around August last year.
